I don't think the NZ players are ruing this but us NZ fans are!**** me shutup about the review. If the New Zealand players are still ruing that event and not concentrating on the task at hand then we deserve to lose.

In defense absolutely. In attack (like taylor was) there's an element of commitment to the shot so following those principles is difficult.I reckon using two other famous pieces of batting technique (ie) playing late and not following the ball with your hands can help a great deal in such conditions. You do need luck though, true enough.
ABC radio commentators are ruing this too. Every co-commentator since tea has started their stint with comments about how unfortunate the NZers are. Think they would have preferred their team to win without a leg up from the umpire.I don't think the NZ players are ruing this but us NZ fans are!
He reminds me a bit of Nathan Astle, who opened in ODIs and and batted at 5 in tests. Good striker, but too vulnerable to the new ball in tests. I don't know if he plays spin well enough to be a long term contentder for no 5 though when McCullum retires.remember when people were saying guptill will bring his odi form to test cricket? or was that just fiery?
Guptill isn't going to be a no 5 because it's a saturated market. We produce no 5s like nobody's business. He's an opener because we need ****ing openers. He reminds me a bit of Nathan Astle, who opened in ODIs and and batted at 5 in tests. Good striker, but too vulnerable to the new ball in tests. That's been the case through the series. That's two drops today by the Oz slip cordon. Bowling's been brilliant but fielding hasn't been the best.
Will Young is being groomed for #5. Nicholls an outside chance, technique not as orthodox but keeps scoring runs.He reminds me a bit of Nathan Astle, who opened in ODIs and and batted at 5 in tests. You kind of need Mitchell Marsh for his bowling though, particularly when your quicks are just dropping like flies at the minute. You'd be rooked this innings without him.I know he has a lot of talent but surely there comes a time when Marsh needs to go back to Shield cricket? At this stage Henriques is a lot better for Australia's balance, and THE BIG SHOW or Faulkers Faulkner (on debut) wouldn't be much worse.
He has had a go at 5, and he farted around out there and batted slowly and failed - aside from one inning where he bullied Bangers. He reminds me a bit of Nathan Astle, who opened in ODIs and and batted at 5 in tests.
