Looking at the teams:

AUCKLAND ACES
RA Jones, RA Young, RS Bopara, SB Styris, GJ Hopkins (captain), AK Kitchen, KWM Todd, RM Hira, GJ Morgan , MD Bates, Bhupinder Singh

NORTHERN KNIGHTS
BS Wilson, AP Devcich, ME Parlane , JAH Marshall (captain), KS Williamson, PD McGlashan, JAF Yovich, GW Aldridge, BE Scott, BP Martin, BJ Arnel

Wow how uninspiring - reading through both teams left me bored. What young talent is there to watch other than Williamson?

Looking out for these guys.

ND still picking Devcich. Why? Are there no batsmen in ND to replace Watling? Full credit to Devcich if he succeeds but he's all over the order in his career and has g one from left arm spinner to opening batsman. When will they decide what they want him to do? Least they have a good specialist spinner in this time.

Young opening the batting is interesting. Also get Hopkins below Kitchen in the order. Thank god they're not wrecking Nethula's confidence by playing him in List A.

EDIT: Where's Boult? Injured again?

Surprised there's no Davis to make a change from the right arm fast mediums either, with Scott being the only difference (and Martin as spinner). Aldridge...he's not a 2011 World Cup prospect as far as I can tell, and aren't ND meant to be stacked with bowlers below the first team with Davis, Verma and Matheison?

Yep I'm surprised Davis isn't there and well Boult may still be damaged from his back injury.

Jones - when will this guy a) give it up or, b) be replaced by someone with talent?

DISPAIR!

I don't mind him. Experienced, decent domestic player. Safe bet for runs.

Whats wierd is Young is opening ahead of Raval. Still, they could have used Hitchcock as a top order slogger again. :p

And *grease mode* get Neesham in there ahead of Keely Todd! :p

Bhupinder Singh - is he an Indian Indian or a New Zealand Indian?
Pretty sure he's a kiwi.

Boult and de Boorder are twelth men. Understandable with de Boorder who seems from the scorecards to be a very slow starter but I'm surprised Boult is fielding if he's injured.

Thought Raval was more of a 4 day player than ODI.

Someone shine the Batsignal aka. bump the Mitch and Davis thread to find out whats going on with the big fella - why he isn't playing.

Teams for CD vs Canterbury are as follows:

CANTERBURY WIZARDS
MHW Papps, RJ Nicol, PG Fulton, JG Myburgh, SL Stewart, CD McMillan, CZ Harris, CFK van Wyk (captain), C Frauenstein, RD Burson, LM Burtt

CENTRAL STAGS
PJ Ingram, JM How (captain), MS Sinclair, TI Weston, JDP Oram, GH Worker, BBJ Griggs, BJ Diamanti, EP Thompson, K Noema-Barnett, MJ Mason

Now there's an interesting bowling line up for Canterbury. Has Bennett died? They used to love picking him even if he did poorly, now he's disappeared without an outing all summer.

Also, Noema Barnett ahead of Bracewell and (assuming he's not injured) Kuru? Seems a bit of a waste having three bowling allrounders. We do bat deep now though.

Which one?

McClenaghan is injured.

Raval played in the U19 ODI side, though I think he missed the world cup. Seems fairly agressive though it was that 20/20 vs the masters.

Still surprised Youngs opening. Even if there are no openers that made the grade they had Bopara open in FC iirc.

Yeah knew Mitch was injured - was meaning to ask where Davis is and why he isn't playing.

Looks like a real run-fest that one. Sinclair, How and Oram vs Fulton, McMillan and Harris.

No. I wouldn't be surprised to see Verma get a few games in the next few rounds or so though.

Boult is most likely just being rested, he did just bowl two days ago afterall.

Just before the one day competition gets underway, I thought it'd be useful to point out that Auckland have already used 19 players in four first class matches this season (and that doesn't include contracted players Hira and de Grandhomme) - no surprise to me based on that statistic that they're bottom of the table at the halfway point.

Why hasn't de Grandhomme played? Has be injured, surely?
I'd imagine so, haven't found any evidence to confirm that though.

I'd also say that Flem will be most impressed by his CD side's innings against Canterbury, posting 301 in 50 overs. Really deep batting line-up with Tim Weston and Bevan Griggs entering at numbers nine and ten respectively. Three wickets for Macca on his return too.

Meanwhile ND have just lost their first wicket with 60 on the board chasing 265 to beat Auckland.

Actually Boult's the twelfth man for the game according to the scorecard on the New Zealand Cricket website, so if he was in need of a rest I'd have thought he'd have the entire match off, including twelfth man duties.
