Congratulation to Bangladesh.......completely outclassed the 'champions' . when i was watching the match i didnt think it was bangladesh who were playing but a really professional team....they smacked Mcgrath and Gillespie all around. For me i can see the australian downfall to be honest, there batting doesnt seem threatful after ponting and Martyn, and dont really want to talk about the bowling!!!! from now on the no1 ranking for ODI (atleast) is open for teams like England, Pakistan, SA etc....Australia will need to fight really hard to mantain this position.

Bangladesh will take this confidence and atleast give a real fight for the rest of ODI series, they seem a completely different team after this win. And i hope people start respecting them as a team and give them some support because they need it. :)

So with Tremlett coming in, does it mean Anderson is out of the scheme of things for both tests and lois even as a reserve even though he is among the contracted players?

atm yes, they messed him around too much last year that he's gone back in his development and Cooley tried to 'fix' his 'not classical' action, he's now returned to more like his previous action but he needs a year.

i think it was botham who brought up the stat that in 4 games here, the team batting first has lost all 4 times.
It was one of the pieces I had researched, and mentioned it in the introduction in my piece (which, incidentally, I always do 'on the fly' - the reason why full match reports on the big events tend to be CricketWeb 'exclusives').

Unfortunately, my research isn't as thorough as it ought to be and today was no different. I completely failed to pick up on the fact that there had already been a Bangladeshi centurion in ODI's - even with the benefit of Bumble mentioning it on the air.

That's ANOTHER pack of Chorley Cakes I owe the git.

Bangladesh will not win another match until someone takes them lighl\tly again...as for the end of the aussies...what played 1 50 over game and lost and its all over for them hahaha
i think you are like the rest of the world in predicting an earlt y oz death more in hope than in deeds.
Let me see what everyone thinks after the game tonight against Eng,and particulary after the test series as we here this every series we play only to bounce back and thump the oposition as you should know with the teams around you in Pakistan and India unable to get near the oz onhome soil and marginaly better at home...good luck but i think you will have egg on your face soon as symonds and lee are recalled...they are not number 1 test and ODI team for the last 10 years for nothing you know hahaha 1 game and they are finished ,do you think they will ever win another match haha

I dedicate my 9999th post on CricketWeb to rebutting yet another silly diatribe.

Where has anyone on these message boards suggested that Australia are finished after this performance? Far from it. They were finished by Somerset after England had struck a mortal blow during the Twenty20.

Yes, that was a crazy statement on my part - but I'm pretty confident that if I left it without further comment, other members would recognise it as being made tongue-in-cheek. All except for people such as yourself, of course, who in accusing 'the rest of the world' of over-reacting, has done so herself.

I say herself because, as we know, girls know nothing about cricket.

(Forgive me Eyes, Piper etc - I kid)

well done to bangladesh. the aussies are slowly (read: crawling!) trying to get into the groove after a lengthy period of no play. hopefully they'll get it right before the matches that matter.

of course, we only lost because symonds didn't play ;)

well i guess you would know about girls not knowing anything about cricket as i see you follow England who have been known to play like a BOG ...
Death by a thousand 4s and 6s to you and your team

That's just bad. On as many levels as I can think of, bad.

The quality of that comeback is on a par with Jason Gillespie's attempted catch (well, I think he was trying to catch it...) at fine leg.

To be fair, I think that's a fair attempt. Without having any wit involved in it, it manages to stay on topic while striking back and not getting abusive. :p

Thank you...now we are getting some sense...A Symonds just happens to be the best 1 day cricketer in the world at the minute bar no one...then you have lee who is world no1 bowler in ODI for the last 2 years...the only reason symo is not number 1 in tests as well is becuase he has not had his chances .....YET...anyway my freing we shall see the knockers go into the proverbial shells again
after the series...do you not get sick of reading all the optomism then predictions of a great Oz demise before every series they play???they have not just finished a series of cricket so with not playing for 3 months surley it takes time to get going again..but im certain that when the chips are down and games that matter have to be won,,,they will be won ,so let the gloaters gloat but we will not hear from them again soon.....go go sym o............

my totally unbiased belief is that andrew symonds is the best cricketer in the world. :)

the australians can hardly go from flogging nz into oblivion to getting flogged by bangladesh simply by losing all of their skill in 10 weeks. they will come good eventually.

will be interesting to see if Ashraful can back up that hundred with more runs, his recent perfromances in test cricket after his big hundred dont look so good.

Ahmed looks a top prospect though i must say.

on Australias perfromance.... umm... .Ponting looked terrible for all 16 balls he was out there, Hayden didn't look much better till he hit that 6. Martyn looked ok but didn't look in much of a rush to score runs. same with Clarke - though batting with Martyn gets like that sometimes. Hussey and Katich get top marks from me for helping the total look remotley competitive.

didn't see the bowling (was asleep) but from the look of the pitch in the first innings i was surprised to see McGrath go wicketless, even more surprised to see Clarke and Hogg go for runs.

I know there are people who attempt tp produce ratings of the all-time greatest ODI innings. I wonder where Ashraful's effort today ranks.

Cheers,

Mike

Clarke made 54, Hussey 31* andf Katich 36*

the latter 2 at particularly good pace...

Do you think maybe that punter has told them to go out and just bat..get the eye in at all costs as the bowlers should accont for Banga?
After the 20/20 he said everone just seemed to want to swing at everything without getting set as with the county game.
They did seem to bat and bat and bat without any regard to the runs until it got to last 8 overs. However i am sure that this will be rectified tonight although having said that i dont know if that is what we really are there to win (ODI) we are the odi world champs last 2 world cups ,i think when the next w/cup comes they will get more serious and while we would all want and expect the oz to dismantle the bangs and poms in reality do you think that is what Punters main objective is on this tour???? slow build up before the bang...i hope tonight the bang will explode

Not too highly I should think. That's not taking anything away from the man, it was a brilliant innings. It just doesn't seem as good as some of the greatest innings' in ODI history!

Well done to Bangladesh. What looked like a great night of sport turned bad, AUstralia lost the cricket, drew the World Youth Championships match (**** YOU REF!) which saw them knocked out and also lost to Argentina to be knocked out of the Confeds Cup.

I'd love to see Australia beat England tonight, that's for sure! :D
