Geez, that was an awful shot. Almost a half-volley, should've put it away fairly easily. Bangladesh doing the right thing though, pitching it up full enough to take advantage of the swing and hitting the seam. Both LBWs plumb, the batsmen really seem to be forgetting the basics at the moment.
well it isnt the first time ponting has got out lbw to the ball coming in, tends to play across the line when he first comes in. gough and vaas have both caused him problems with that delivery.

Since you've raised SP's response to something I posted, perhaps you would also like to address the 'excuses and belittling of the game' which I allegedly posted. All of the Australian posters who posted in relation to today's game accepted the defeat graciously, so it is frustrating to have stuff like that being recycled.
Fair comment as always, Adam. You've all taken it on the chin, and that's how it should be - top blokes. The prawn might well be on the other barbie tomorrow.

Actually, there's not been that much gloating at all - shows the mental age of the average CW subscriber is greater than that of a certain duck.

<quack> Sorry, LE. You're not going to get me to make unnecessary comments at the expense of our antipodean cousins.

Turned over a new leaf, DD?

<quack> You could say that.

Glad to hear it.

<quack> hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (long intake of breath) hahahahahahahahahahahaha (quacking laughter fades into distance as duck goes blue in the face).

well my post wasnt exactly directed at you or any of the australians, just that it wouldnt be surprising if people came up with such an excuse, given that its been happening everytime we have had a successful series.

Never a truer word, TEC.

Funnily enough, Rich, TGO and I have been championing their cause for a long time (well before WC2003) and we were beginning to look silly.

I'd expect Lee to come in for Australia, not sure for who though because the pitch will probably take spin, even if Hogg is in the Batty class based on his performance today.

well if mcgrath and gillespie look as off colour as they did today, i would think not.
but maybe its better for the aussies to go into a game without the burden of being expected to win.

I really hope so. It'll be fun to see him smacked of that poorly shoulder again.

Personally, I don't think they'll risk him until later in the series.

i think they will still be expected to win tomorrow...its just the amount of certainty is rapidly dwindling

Well i dont think anyone expected anything of this magnitude to happen so soon.
But its fairly obvious to everyone now, based on the incredible amount of improvement they've made over the summer, that there should be no questions asked about their test status.

I can't believe how long it took me to work out TGO...

Of course, you do comprehend the real significance of this game. When the wheels come off the England bus and we lose to the Bangles as well, it will be confirmation of their improvement and not the cause for wild hilarity.

But as it is, the situation calls for three words.

Tee.

Hee.

Hee.

Cheers,

Mike

Surprised none of you pedants didn't pick me up over the match report, where I said that it was the first century by a Bangladeshi in an ODI.

It was the second.
Huh? Who made the first, then?
