Regarding Pathan i wonder if he'll play the next match now.
He's in the team as a bowler and he's so far bowled 6 pathetic overs in 2 matches. If he's in as a bowler surely he should be getting more overs or if captain's lost faith in his bowlign than why pick him at all.
He was wondeful at least in ODI last season but he's been pretty bad for past 6 or 7 matches so maybe time for Pathan to take rest... he needs go back and learn to bowl again because it seems he's forgotton how to bowl.
He is in the team as an all rounder...a bowler wouldnt go at number 3 so often.

I think the Indian supporters are blaming the wrong D/L. They should be blaming DKL ;)

The "once in a generation bowler" comment made when he was 17 has opened a lot of doors for Johnson.

It looks like he is starting to repay the faith.

If theres rain on the reserve day...Then the result of this match between India and Australia will be the result of that match.
Which is then using the D/L system you've suddenly decided is rubbish!

Each game has one day gap between it. That one day couldve been used as the reserve day.
Aren't there now rules which prevent such tight scheduling?

It also doesn't make sense to make the batting team jump from a RR of under 5 to over 6.5
Why not? It's based on stats of all ODIs over time, which try to equate the amount of wickets in hand with overs left.

Indian batsmen facing McGrath and Warne combined.

Someone made a comment about Dravid's batting against Australians when both Warne and McGrath are in the team. This set me thinking and I decided to do some checking. It reveals some interesting statistics.

- McGrath and Warne have played only 9 matches against India together.

- Laxman(9 tests) has the highest number of runs in these games 777 at 45.7 an innings including scores of 281, 167, 66, 65 and 59

- Sehwag(3 tests) has the best average with 286 runs at 57.2 including a 155 and 58

- Sachin (7 tests) is the most consistent with 592 at 42.3 including 126, 116, 76, 65, 61 and 52.

- Dravid (9 tests) has a modest record of 540 runs at 31.8 including 180, 81 and 60.

- Ganguly (8 games) has the worst record of major Indian batsmen with 342 runs at 22.6 including just one score above fifty, the 60 he scored in the first innings of the first of these 9 tests in Dec 1999.

you don't expect your opening bowler to go for 8+ runs an over either, but he does more than often.

Why during Malaysia's extremely-heavy-rain-every-day season. =_=

Ugh, I seriously doubt we'll make the finals even at this rate. That Duckworth/Lewis versus the Windies was unfortunate, and the Australia game today kept getting washed out too.

@ resha, my friend in kl says it doesn't usualy rain this heavy in kl at this time but this year has been unusually wet.

So that means there will be more than one reserve days between matches...so thats even better. Each match should get one reserve day, before the D/L comes into play.

damn Johnson thats what i'm talking about i guess big Dennis Lille was right about him all along. Disappointing he has to go home now but i'd say he was gone ahead of Gillespie for the 4th seamer spot for the Ashes.

Time for the big guns to return on monday can't wait..

I'd say Bracken is well ahead of Johnson, considering his OD and Domestic FC stats.
I dunno i get the feeling the selectors have see Bracken as an ODI specialist currently.

Jaques looking pretty awful at the moment, certainly not anywhere near cementing his spot.
Not really, he got a ball from Edwards that kept low & played a bad shot after looking very good earlier today.

The Pathan situation is confusing, i think i saw him bowl in his first few test/ODIs and i thought he looked really good.

Now he seems to have reverted to being a batsman who bowls medium pace, my thoughts are that he started concentrating too much on his batting when he got put at number 3 and now he maybe has the mentality of 'even if i bowl crap, i can still get runs and stay in the side'

Someone in the Indian set-up needs to sort him out, drop him if need be, he can be so much better than he is atm.
