I'm from the North-East (Chembur), the darker part of the city- not as active or vibrant as Andheri, Bandra, Worli or Fort, but not as deserted as the newer extensions of the city.
I've heard of that part although I never went there. You can probably guess where I went, Andheri, Marine Drive, Churchgate etc. Im making a re-appearance there after I graduate, brilliant city. :D

With those places, you may have gone on a long road trip.

Maybe you have not heard of SportNetwork ICF. Repeatedly, they posted their great expectations about "Almighty" Dhoni before he came out to bat, only for him to be out a short while later.
Maybe he's not very good?

Try saying that on ICF. Dhoni can be very good on one day, and then disappointing on the next. He's a slam-bang, carefree batsman who throws caution to the wind all the time. He doesn't believe in playing out dot-balls, and probably doesn't believe in technique either. He's had an amazing run in OD's in the recent past and has a List-A average close to 50, with a strike rate near 100. He's even taken the Pakistani A-team bowlers to the cleaners twice. Moreover, he's also a wicketkeeper (and very steady, too) and the only one you can pick on batting.

Contrary to what u think, Arjun, I think Kaarthick's dismissal was credit to the bowler. No, I am not saying it was a wicket taking delivery to everyone, but he bent his back and got it to hit the deck hard and therefore it bounced more than his earlier deliveries had been doing, off juz back of good length. Kaarthick played the shot, not expecting it to bounce that much and had it not bounced that much, it would have been a decent shot. So, I think you need to give some credit to the bowler there. Also, I thought Sachin's dismissal was credit to the bowler as well. The ball moved a bit more than Sachin expected. I suppose the fact that it was the second new ball might have been a factor in both dismissals.

But after seeing how successful the second new ball has been for Pakistan, I wonder why they delayed taking it until it was mandatory?

probably seein how danish is keeping the batsman quite inzi opted for the old ball for a few more overs ,plus rana has the ability to reverse swing the old ball

Exactly what I said- that was a good ball bowled by Sami to get Karthik out. It came in from short of a length and bounced, surprising the batsman, even more so with that pace. It's not the first time Karthik has got out to a short delivery from an express bowler- Harmison got an edge at Lord's last year.

The Pakistanis were just trying to make the ball come on the bat slowly, to get the batsmen to play loose shots, particularly when the new ball came on. Or probably since the spinner was the only bowler who was bowling well a lot longer.

I guess it all didn't really work out. I mean, Danish bowled well, but he would have bowled well with a semi new ball as well. Plus, with the ball being shinier, he could have gotten more bounce out of it, which is what you need. A bit of turn coupled with steep bounce is always more dangerous than a lot of turn and little bounce, atleast in India. That is why someone like Kumble is so successful here and guys like Warne were not.

there's still time, but i'm hoping from some urgency...2 days left, lead of 80-odd, and tendulkar looking tentative against sami/kaneria.
It has been a very slow day hasn't it?

I heard that a new ball is mandatory after 120 overs with the old ball...... I heard that during commentary during the INdia-South AFrica test series.

Sourav'a batting has become painful now. Ist Session 134/31 overs( for 1 WK), 2nd session 59/29 (for 1WK), 3rd session 70/31 (for 3 Wks).

Leave crickinfo and shift to rediff . com

The commentary is far superior though you have to refresh it yourself. But then it is faster than the auto refreshed at the other site.
:nono: :nono: We dont want rediff to become another Cricinfo, do we ?? It's just too good.

It's very tough for me to say this but I think Sourav Ganguly needs to fire in this series. His test form has not been bad but he's been very unreliable and woeful, esp. in one dayers. He has to have a brilliant test as well as one day series. If he doesn't, India should look to replace him unfortunately.

Because no one told Inzy how fast his new ball bowlers are :p

I am not so sure they bowled all that well with the new ball. I was watching on telly at that time.

They actually bowled a lot many very short deliveries and alyhough none of them rose, all the batsmen kept ducking with the balls barely managing to go over their heads with them kneeling on the ground !!

It was an amazing site. I have never before seen so many batsmen duck to deliveries which, if they had stood and played would have been comfortable height for pulling. It was very very inexplicable.

Some how, after Ganguly came in the Indian team decided to shut shop. I have never felt so frustrated with sachin's batting as today. He just decided he was not going to play any forcing shots. It looked terribly terribly selfish and as if he had nothing but his century in mind.

But I dont know if he was under instructions since just before Ganguly came in, he was playing very freely.

I actually was so upset, I said loudly, I hope he gets out without getting his hundred if this is the way he wants to go about it. Unfortunately he did.

I would really like to know if it was his own decision to bat that way or was he under instructions from the captain ??

India should have led by 200 runs and maybe they would have had a wicket or two more in hand.

Except for Kaneria, who was superb, no one looked likely to bother the batsmen from amongst the Pakistani bowlers.

Sidhu said that the fields set were so defensive, that the Indians had done well to get so many runs today.

Ganguly has been out of form and scratchy, so he was trying to play himself in. Sahin had been scoring well, and he did not need to play out so many dot balls. In comparison, Laxman was off the blocks a lot quicker. To make up for all the dot balls lost, they must go for their shots rightaway- they have a massive total behind them.

Why do the Indians keep on doing this? They are a quality batting side, and the attacks they have last faced are anything but quality. Maybe it's the effect of getting crunched by the Australians so often at home, but they didn't help themselves then, nor these days and they won't against the Aussies next time if they play out so many dots. They might just have handed an advantage to the opposition. Out of fear of losing wickets, they're not even taking the singles!

International Coach
to put it in simple words we batted poorly to day after scoring that many runs in the first session why did we score only 59 runs in the second session when we had only lost just one wicket .poor thinking on every ones part

and i heard on a tv program its raining(small) in mohali since evening so this should end in a draw
