Why not? Is there any reason not to? He's one of the best spinners in India- the best after Kumble (soon to retire) and Harbhajan, and he can do a far better job with the bat than the over-rated middle order. At least he attacks all the time and plays for a win. By far one of the best spinners in world cricket not playing in a national side, and a better bet with the bat than all the wicketkeepers tried.SJS said:Okay I bet a thousand bucks and give you 1 in 5 odds that Ramesh Powar will not debut for India in the next test.
AND 5000 bucks at 1 in 3 that he wont make a test debut in the entire series (whichever the next series is)
But that is stupid, isn't it? Why won't you place confidence on the likes of Sachin, Laxman and Dravid? Granted, they are not going to score 'Sehwag quick', but they can score at a reasonable rate too. I think a couple of the Indian batters have just become a little lazy mentally, because we never had a good opener for so long and now we have a destructive guy like Sehwag doing the job there, they seem to think they just need to bat time. At least, that is the feeling we get watching Sachin's approach. Is it a coincidence that he changed his style after Sehwag became established?SquidAU said:A more aggressive approach to this game would have seen them save it, instead of going into a shell after Sehwag got out.
Shows me they don't have much confidence in their batting below Sehwag.....
They've all gone into a shell since losing a Test series at home, so they may be afraid of losing wickets quickly.honestbharani said:But that is stupid, isn't it? I did not talk about how good he is. I just offered odds on his playing since you suggested the bookies are looking at the chances of his playing.Arjun said:Why not? Is there any reason not to? Difficult, since at this stage, he's an ideal, almost automatic selection, but the spineless clowns known as the selectors are not likely to pick him.SJS said:I did not talk about how good he is. Are you taking the bet ? If not, then you are not that sure of his playing are you ?
Again, I am not interested in knowing how good you think he is. I have heard that before. This is not about that
Doubt it.Unattainableguy said:If they get one more wicket before 10 overs are left, then I'll place my bet on Pakistan.
