**Official** India v Pakistan

:D This is going to be a thriller, Afridi having one of the best matches of his Test career now. India's tail isn't the worst, but as SJS has said, they can't expect to hang around if they keep defending with that many men around the bat.

22 overs to go now. Surely Kaneria will be thrown the ball soon, he's got to have a good chance of dislodging one of these two.

Whatever it takes!!!
I think some of the Pakistan fans here have gotten a little too excited by this game. Take a deep breath guys, regardless of the result of this match, your team will have scaled new heights. :)

I still think it'll be a draw. All they need to do is play out 7 overs/wicket. Not hard since Kumble and Laxman added around 50 runs on the last wicket in last inning. And we all know Irfan Pathan can bat.

Eighteen years ago, it was the same month of March, the same Chinnaswami stadium and the same opponents, Pakistan.

The difference was that Pakistan had a much better bowling side with Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Salim Jaffer, Iqbal Qasim and Tausif Ahmed,

The second difference was that the wicket was WICKED ! It was a vicious turner. So much that Imran did not take the new ball himslef but asked Iqbal Qasim (left arm spinner) to open with Akram and bowled Wasim for only 11 overs and bowled none himself or by Jaffer.

In 97 overs, India, chasing 221 for victory, were all out 16 runs short. Even this was a great performance since ten of their batsmen contributed 81 runs between them. One man alone stood between Pakistan and victory and almost defeated them single handedly scoring 96 before he was 8th out at 180.

He too was from Bombay like Sachin. He too was called the little master. He too had scored 10000 runs and 34 test centuries. But on that day the difference between what he did and what Tendulkar tried was that he played 254 deliveries for his 96 while Sachin played 98 for 16.

Yes he was trying for a win and Sachin may have not been doing that but if he had attempted to play like Sachin did today, I doubt if he would have survived 264 deliveries on that spiteful wicket.

I watched that game too and I am sorry to say, Sachin did not measure up today.

Not sure of the circumstances of that dismissal, seems a bit dubious reading cricinfo's coverage... oh well, evens out the decision Gambhir got in his favour early this morning.

Taufel went to the 3rd Ump for it. I can't watch it but surely he would have seen whether it hit bat or not?

Yes!!!! Arshad strikes again!!
The five balls that Kumble drove for boundaries are good from Indian point of view, not because they brought 20 runs because they were the least likely to be caught by the close in cordon.

This is where sachin's tactics went horribly wrong.

A more aggressive approach to this game would have seen them save it, instead of going into a shell after Sehwag got out.

Shows me they don't have much confidence in their batting below Sehwag.....

The third ump can only adjudicate on whether than catch was taken cleanly or not, I think. The third umpire would have told Taufel that it had indeed been taken cleanly - it is up to Taufel to decide whether or not the batsman had hit the ball (which he hadn't). Doesn't bother me though, I want Pakistan to win. :p

Nah, I am pretty sure the 3rd ump can do more than just say whether it was cleanly taken or not? A catch that close in off the body balloons up usually anyways.....didn't meantion whether it was a sharp chance though....

I too hope the ****'s win!
