can only wonder what could have been had paine spent as much time working on his batting as he spent working on his banter

Bizarre day.

This Test reminds me of the Australia/England Test at Adelaide last year, funnily enough. Just with the sides reversed.

Ideally we'd bat out the first session tomorrow and we can forget about this blip. Crucial not to lose a wicket early tomorrow.

Ah well. Still India's day.

Owned Australia with the bowl. Showed how to bowl on a wicket that isn't doing half your work. Unfortunately gifted 3/4 wickets to Cummins with lazy batting. We really lack the ruthlessness. As soon as we are ahead by a bit, we seem to think the match is won and start to relax. That's why we have seen all the tail wags this year. Nevertheless the goal must still be to put another 10 overs in Cummins legs tomorrow.

it's not good for morale if a meteorite hits the stadium either, but that doesn't change what's happening now
Alright sure. But everyone already knows our bowling is good. Tbh I hope it doesn't take away the spotlight from how awful our batting is

Bizarre session this. India in strong position still of course. Hope they can set a target of minimum 400.

Oh stop.

No, it’s not crucial at all. They could be all out tomorrow for zero additional runs and it would be fine. There’s already enough.

I reckon Australia's best option is to try to knock over Pant early then bowl dry with fields to cut off singles rather than trying to bowl India out. That might make Kohli delay a declaration until closer to arvo tea than lunch

Ideally Cummins takes 5/2 in a three over spell tomorrow morning and then Harris follows up with a match winning 300 run partnership with Khawaja.

It's not going to happen but that'd be ideal.
