Sounds like an absolute thriller. Yuvi almost did it, for India. Congrats WI on the win.

Wow, what a shocker. I was off playing my own match and now I found out India lost a thriller. Must've been really exciting, well played WI.

Amazing ball by Bravo under pressure. Sarwan was excellent, and the Samuels/Gayle bowling partnership was impressive. Bradshaw brilliant and Edwards great. Lots of positive signs. :)

You had a bloke out there on the 90's who was a very capable batsman. Should've really won. India choked.
That India reached within 1 run of winning was because that bloke batted more than 40 overs, scored 160 with 8 different partners. People like you should not watch cricket if you cant appreciate a great performance.

Agreed. Last game was equally a thriller, but we made it home. We chased 17 targets consecutively, and we fail to win one by one run, and its choking, is it?

Give some credit to WI. They bowled and fielded really well. and as silentstriker said, India are chokers for messing 1 chase in 18 ???

This series has already been full of excitement. Off we go to St. Kitts for the 3rd ODI, three days from now.
That's also the day we find out about Tendulkar's fitness and availability for the tests.

No one said India are chokers, he said India choked. Massive difference. Really whoever lost that game technically choked, because WI were in a position to win and almost lost, and then Yuvraj put India in a position to win (2 runs from 3 balls) and lost it.

Yes. Losing by 1 run is choking no matter who the side is. And having a man who has so settled in the crease get out with only 1 run to get, it's not great. Up until that moment he batted superbly but he had a mind collapse and was outdone by a ball that was better than his abilities has a batsman.

Not really.

Yuvraj had to ensure that he retained the strike if India were to stand any chance - and the idea of finding five twos on a small ground is a non-starter so boundaries were called for.

The first two balls were duly despatched, and the third must have looked to be right there for the taking - only it was a brilliantly disguised slower ball.

Choking is different to losing after being on top...
Yes but going into the last 2 overs, it was WI's game, they weren't just on top, the game was there's to win. If they had lost, it would have been choking, not just losing after being ahead. Choking is at the pivotal moment in the game a certain thing (such as running when there is no need to running, bowling a horrible last over etc.) goes wrong almost solely due to the team who should have won.

Had Bravo let that over slip, I reckon WI would have choked, because a team should defend 11 runs in the last over with a number 11 on strike. But they didn't in the end obviously.

Whatever it takes!!!
what is the big deal about choking? Some people are just too big on labelling teams other than their own as some things which are far from true. Nowadays, lots of people just want to call 'losing' as 'choking', it seems. Going by that, Don Bradman is the biggest CHOKER of all time.

Was an incredible performance by the Windies in the field. I can't remember the last time they were this sharp in the field. Lara and King seem to have motivated the youngsters really well here. I am inclined to say that this is a match which the Windies won more than India lost. Sarwan and Yuvi played two extremely good knocks with very little support from anyone else in their respective batting orders.

All said, I am still unable to comprehend what Irfan Pathan's role is in the side as a batsman. Is Greg Chappell trying to tell us that he has the ability to become a bona fide number 3 in ODIs? Or was he sent in as a pinch hitter? And if he was, what the hell was he doing taking 33 balls to score 14 runs? Yuvraj, given the form he is in, should be batting as high as possible. Imran called Woolmer stupid for putting faith in Shoaib Malik over Younis Khan. Wonder what he will call Chappell who is using Pathan (well inferior to Shoaib Malik as a batter) over Yuvraj (well above YOunis as a ODI batter). I think Chappell is running the danger of getting caught up in his own hype. The media have been labelling his moves all kinds of things and I almost felt that he just sent in Pathan there just for the heck of it, with no real purpose defined for him. Stupid, stupid, stupid move.

Their fielding was what stood out, for me. They seem to be very spirited as well, something that I almost never saw when Chanders was captain.
