One big diference between Sachin of old and now, maybe even more than factors like footwork etc.. is the concentration level. I've lost count of the number of times in the past 2 years where he's looked really good and gone out playing some indiscreet shot.

Over 500 international matches get to you, but he was still playing great out there, you have to admit.

Was not a loss of concentration that brought that dismissal IMO, but that doesn't mean you're necessarily wrong.

SA were bowling intelligently, and still are. If India can get through this short ball barrage and get close to the SA total, I'll be a proud Indian supporter.

Agreed. SA have bowled really well throughout this innings. Tendulkar's innings was all class until the dismissal.

Oh ok... I didnt actually watch the dismissal just had a friend describe it to me. Whether or not it's due to a loss of concentration, that pattern of looking a million dollars and getting out unexpectedly has been repeating quite a few times recently and is really disappointing

Yeah, on the whole I agree with you, and ironically the commentators just described his dismissal as a lapse in concentration so maybe you're right.

My gut just tells me though that he wanted to get going (he had hit a couple of 4s today already) but the short ball at the body line Ntini and Nel were bowling was preventing him from doing that. He gave himself room to cut it away, but the ball was so close to him (Ntini = gun bowler in SA conditions) and he kept going with the shot. Looked like a fool.

Sachin's dismissal was a lapse in concentration IMO. He had been countering the tight line of the SA bowlers with a tight defense throughout his innings, only going for the cut on deliveries outside off stump. This was very surprising and pathetic after all the good work he had done earlier.
