NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS DIDN'T JUST HAPPEN!!!! Oh what tragedy. I'm going to cry. He deserved that double century!!!
He did. A tragedy indeed. Afridi should have been further down the track than he was. Having said that, I suppose from Pakistan's point of view, its probably etter to have Afridi at the crease at this stage than Younis (if one of them HAD to get run out in that fiasco).

But the best batting of the match by far was from Mohammad Yousuf. So sure of what he was doing and at 90 runs per 100 balls !!

Just besides the cricket, why doesnt MoYo smile a bit ?

Hey Sanz - Ever thought about some anger management classes. You and Ganguly could attend together. The whole nation witnessed what a fool Ganguly made of himself yelling at Dravid as if it's him, and not Dravid, who is the captain
Hey Just Tool - Send me a check for 5000 USD..I will make sure I attend the class.

And no the whole nation didn't witness anything..Did you hear him yell ?? Did you read what Greg Chapell had to say on the issue ?

Yes I dont know if he is a spoilt brat or not and I couldn't care less even if he was one....I am sure you knew that before he was selected to play for India and then made captain.

As for him being selfish..who isn't ??
uhh ... we're all selfish, but there are different degrees and there's something called putting the team interests before individual interests. i won't say anything about ganguly being selfish because personally i don't know what happened in the dressing room over the past few years. i can say that ganguly's indisciplined and a poor fielder and possibly arrogant because i've observed such things. once again, i have absolutely nothing against sourav ... i think and hope that he can still contribute to india's cricketing success. he just needs to work out a few things and stay in form.

Hey Adharcric stop your biased crap. How do you know they were all Kolkatans ? I know few of my friends had flown from Banglore to watch the game, some people from my hometown had taken the morning train from Jamshedpur to Kolkata to watch the game....and no not all of them were bengalis.. what proof do you have that those people who booed Indian team were Kolkatans or Bengalis ?

Did you know that Sambit Bal and Rahul Bhattacharya are also bengalis..?

I dont care if Ganguly deserves his place or not....because it is not my job to select or drop him. There are five wisemen who are supposed to do a job, why not direct your diatribe against the selectors who are such incompetent nincompoops that they keep selecting Ganguly when the whole world knows that he has been in poor form

Why did Rahul Dravid select him in the final XI ? If he succumbed to pressure then he doesn't deserve to lead India...
Well, it sure is tough to get these things into your head isn't it. Why the hell are you still arguing about the identity of the disgraceful fans? Fine, if they were Tamil, Punjabi or Marathi and flew in to Kolkata to watch the match, so be it ... I'll condemn those fans. What I've seen on tv, riots where it's clear that the fans are against the national cricket team for the sake of one undeserving player ... those people I would think are Kolkata-based. If you still don't get the point, I'll repeat it for you. I have nothing against Bengali people or Kolkatans, so many of them are good friends of mine. Now, in clear words: I condemn all fans, the majority of whom were in Kolkata, who jeered the Indian cricket team and guys like Dravid simply because their undeserving regional hero Ganguly wasn't in the team. Cool it.

That's nice, I really don't care about Sambit Bal or the other dude. Good to know.

I could continue about Ganguly's selection but I've already said too much on that in different threads. Let me summarize: I think it's a good move to put him in as an opener to see if he can handle the tough task of playing out Shoaib and co ... that will be a good test. Dravid and Yuvraj have both earned the security of their middle-order spots, so if Ganguly wants a chance, he better serve the team in the manner the team needs him to, not the manner in which he wishes to. Quite simple.

So how do you know that he is not putting team's interest before his own ? Let me guess according to some people only way he could do this was by announcing his retirement. I dont understand why. Hey if he is not good enough or doing such stuff that you have accused him of then why dont the selectors DROP him ?

I know he is indeciplined, poor fielder, and possibl arroganty or blah blah blah..but he was all that before he made in to the team both as a player and then as a captain, wasn't he ? Why didn't you or anyone question it then ? When he was winning matches for India you(not you personally but the disgruntled fan) were singing hosannas about the same qualities..

I dont care if he is dropped from the team today or after this match, I would rather want India win then have Ganguly play in the team.

If there is an ultimate flat track bully it has to be Mathew Hayden.

what you're saying is completely valid. i've always been critical of his poor fielding, but earlier his batting used to make up for it amply. also, with guys like yuvraj, kaif and raina in the team and every other team improving its standards of fielding and the advent of strict foreign coaches in the subcontinent, we're paying more attention to ganguly's indiscipline now ... just a theory. i don't mind his proud personality, you always need some of those guys in the team. as long as he respects the coach and captain, maintains the same level of fitness and fielding as everyone else, and bats to his potential (assuming he still has it in him), i'd love to have ganguly in the team.

i'll still maintain, i condemn the actions of certain fans in kolkata recently. you can construe that as me hating all kolkatans, all bengalis, all indians or the entire human race .. up to you. you've decided to stop using your brain and instead are comparing me to bal thackeray. no comment.

If the other guy is on 199, and you have just entered the innings, YOU SHOULD RUN FOR THE SINGLE NO MATTER WHAT. That was bone-headed of Afridi. He better get some runs to make up for it.
Yep he better take us to 600 now

I think I will send you the check for 5000, in fact make it 10,000 - I don't think even that will be enough. Why can't you understand what every one already knows - that Ganguly is NOT deserving of a place in the team any more. Yes, he did a good job as captain - does that mean he should in the team when he is 50 years old. God knows all the cricketers milk their marginal talents for enough money competing in a sport that is played by the least number of nations in the world. 8-)

This is the worst I've seen Kumble bowl for a long time. Yes he's got 2 wickets today but he's dropping the ball short far too often and his line hasn't been anywhere as accurate and consistent as he has done in the past.

It will be enough, trust me..Make checks payble to me, I prefer Wire transfer though.

Unfortunately that whole world doesn't include BCCI and its selectors..who keep selecting him in the squad.

Why dont you get it in your thick mind that I have said this since I saw him bat against Bangladesh in 2004 tour. He doesn't deserve to be in the team and that he has lost it. But what has that got to do with your diatribe against kolkatans/Bengalis. Besides why dont you question your honorary selectors for not doing their job ? A

Yousuf would have to be the ultimate flat track bully.

Incredibly ordinary against anyone with a heart-beat or in anything but great batting conditions then cashes in massively against minnows and on wickets like this.
Anyone who tons up against McGrath, Kaspa, Gillespie and Warne all bowling well is more than a mere flat track bully. Particularly when he scores that ton at almost a run a ball.
http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2004-05/PAK_IN_AUS/SCORECARDS/PAK_AUS_T2_26-30DEC2004.html

Then as Xuhaib mentioned, he scored this brilliant knock (probably the best of his career) against Ambrose and Walsh on a seaming wicket rescuing his team from 5-37 getting them to 253.
http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1999-2000/PAK_IN_WI/SCORECARDS/PAK_WI_T2_18-22MAY2000.html

And then the next test. What a ripping test match this was, and Pakistan almost won thanks to Yousuf's 1st innings ton.
http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1999-2000/PAK_IN_WI/SCORECARDS/PAK_WI_T3_25-29MAY2000.html

He's not a flat track bully, his average just flatters him a little. Just because he belts attacks around at almost a run a ball when the wicket is placid and even shouldn't be held against him when he has scored some brilliant tons against great attacks.

Afridi saving some face now. Is this track moving at all? (I'm following cricinfo)
There's more movement on a synthetic wicket.

That being said, India haven't bowled well in this 2nd session. Harbhajan has bowled alright but been unlucky, but Pathan and Kumble are just being spanked.

Afridi letting loose now. Why wouldnt Fox Sports want to show this?

Apparently since the Oz v SA tests are on at a similar time they won't be picking up India v England either. Shame that....

I knew that'd happen. Really annoyed at that. I've had to pay for live stream for this series. Obviously going to have to do it again for the India vs. England series as well.
