***Official*** India in Pakistan

christ what kind of pitches are Pakistan producing these days, dalm

Placccid pitches! I think the spells by Pathan and Balaji (from last tour) were still fresh in their mind and therefore they wanted to play safe. They wouldn't like to go for a track that will have anything for Indian seamers.

With just 2 recognized batsmen left (inzi and Afridi) 700 does't look possible.I think Pak should be happy if they get a score of about 500-525.

Why should Pakistan be happy to score even worse than 200-8 on the day?

I was talking about 2 recognized batsmen in pavillion. If India is able to get rid of Yousuf and Younis early, then Inzi and Afridi will be the last recognized pair left, as such i don't think Pakistan will be able to get to a score of even near 700.
I certainly agree there's little likelihood of Pakistan making 700 - I should think that they would want to bowl after tea tomorrow, even if it's only for a dozen overs or so.

650 tops.

India's REAL PROBLEM: Ganguly

Including a selfish, arrogant and incompetent player and the "world's worst" fielder like Ganguly has hurt the Indian morale more than everyone might believe. It's ridiculous that Ganguly should be arguing with Dravid. Ganguly is a big blot on an up and coming enthusisatic Indian team. What did he do as captain ? The two people who bailed his incompetence - he shafted them. He made Dravid keep wickets (when it was Ganguly who should have been dropped long ago) and he dropped Laxman and Kumble when they were most needed.

I agree with Chappell - this guy is a cancer and as long as he in the team nothing good is likely to happen. Look at how selfishly he played against Zimbabwe and how he dropped out against Australia in Nagpur. He makes these outrageous statements that his form has been good.

Lastly, I think it is a crying shame that Calcutta and Bangalis would treat the Indian team the way they did when Ganguly was dropped. To me that's an acknowledgement that they don't believe any one from their state can ever make it into the cricket team. If they are all like Ganguly it will be too soon whenever the next one does make it - which won't be in our lifetime given their shitty attitude and 'rasisct' behavour against non-Bengalis.

Hey Justtool, take that racist diatribe against Bengalis and Kolkatans and shove it up yours. Last time I checked, Sharad Pawar, Rahul Dravid, Kiran More and his selection panel, Rahul Dravid, Greg were all Non Bengalis, why did they select Ganguly in the Squad and then in the final XI ?

700 is ridiculous, but if they continue in the same vien they can get around 600. u missed akmal btw, or is he still not as much a recognized bat as afridi in ur eyes??

Hey, I am just "reporting" what happened. Did I riot ? I agree that the langauge is unaclled for but that is precisley the point. Can you imagine how Dravid and the other Indian players felt being booed by their OWN HOME crowd in India ? Come on we all know that Ganguly's selection was not on his current form as a batsman. Why did he drop out of the Nagpur Test ?

What he said might've seemed a bit extreme, but fans that cheer for the opposition deserve harsh treatment. One can't blame Ganguly for the Kolkatan fan behavior, only those disgraceful fans should be condemned for that. If you can't see that there's anything wrong with such behavior, well, there's no point explaining anything to you. No one here is being rascist when we say something like "those Kolkatan fans". We are not cursing every Bengali in the world by such a statement ... just happens to be that those disgraceful fans who oppose the national team for the sake of one player are a group of Kolkatans in this case.

Now, Ganguly may not deserve his place in the team on cricketing merit, but I think they made the right move in playing Ganguly in this test. If he does well, he deserves his spot and it helps the team. If he does poorly, goodbye Ganguly, no excuses. Now, perhaps they took into account that this is supposedly a batting paradise when inserting Ganguly. If he can't even do well on this pitch, forget it.

The pitch is placid and looks dead unless it crumbles on day 3/4 this will be a boring test match unless ofcourse Shoaib brings something extraordinary to the table with support from Rana & Danish.

Saying the above, I did not think Indian bowlers did themselves any favours with some wayward bowling.. atleast this is the impression I got from the highlights. Full credit to YK & MoYo though for some excellent batting especially in the last session of the day..

Even though I'm an Indian fan, I won't put all the blame on the pitch. As the commentators said, the quality of a bowling attack is revealed on flat pitches like these. Irfan put in some effort, Harbhajan was the best of the bunch but didn't catch any breaks, Kumble had an off day and Agarkar was harmless. Yousuf and Younis batted splendidly.

I thought Dravid should have thrown the ball to Harbi more than he did do as he actually looked like getting a wicket, was unlucky with the ball not carrying to him from YK and was getting some turn..
