**Official** India in Bangladesh Thread

Incidentally, on the point that's been raised many times about needing big hitters - the Indian innings seemed to flounder for a period when the batsmen were scoring just one boundary an over (and 5 dot balls)

No working the ball around appears to have cost them dearly.

! I hope you can all shut the f**k up now about Bangladesh just being there to help numbers!
sure great that bangladesh won a match, but only an idiot would make that sort of a statement after a single game.
people say bangladesh played better therefore deserved to win - which is true, but the fact is even though india had an inexperienced-ish team they are fielding 11 players who they think can do the job for india at international level and if they don't then something has gone wrong, if heads are called for(which they normally are in india) the only ones i would point to are the likes of agarkar, mongia and yuvraj to have a break from ODI cricket, none of them have been close to being consistent performers, good win bangladesh - i knew they were capable of acheiving better than they have been in the past.

what a win!! haha Indian 2nd XI my backside, there were many quality players in the side, bangladesh played the better cricket.

MORTAZA!! what a completely dominant display, good batting, great bowling, greater fielding. the fielding!! how good was it, bangladesh were committed in everything they did.

i believe if bangladesh can just keep wickets in the early part of their innings and then accelerate towards the end, then they will have done well.

Mortaza is truely world class, I have backed this guy since I saw him in Australia (and yes he did get smacked a bit).

I hope i can see this happening more often. CAN THEY WIN THE SERIES?? india will play a full-strength team, if bangladesh win, no comments can be made about a "second-string" team. go bangladesh!!!!

and for the record, pretty much every team plays a few newbies against Bangladesh and even some other teams when they have been playing a lot of cricket. in a 3+ game series. I certainly remember Australia doing so.

haha..needed a good laugh..

Was this a pathetic performance or what. people in this thread have been going on about how Bangladesh deserved to win this...yes, if they somehow had a hand in India playing ****poor cricket. Bangladesh definitely didnt win this, India threw it away. Sriram, Kaif and AA simply threw away their wickets. What the f*** was wrong with Kaif? There was an easy run to be had, and Kaif refuses to take it and almost runs Sriram out that delivery. The next ball, a visibly perplexed Sriram gets stumped. Then Kaif throws away his wicket trying to complete a run which shouldnt have been taken. Was there more room for his head to swell further ?

And this one victory is Bangladeshs ticket for four more years survival on the test arena. How pathetic. If a success rate of 6 % in ODIs is good enough, lets get Holland, Namibia, Ireland, Scotland etc playing test cricket now.

Here we go again. Yuvraj retained after failing, conescutively, God knows how many times. And Sriram dropped. Of course, Yuvraj has openly been complaining as to how he got a raw deal as an opener in the Tests. Must say he is learning well the art of blaming 'others' from Ganguly.

On form, and technique, the only person who definitely should be dropped is Ganguly :)

Yuvraj will be picked as long as Godfather Ganguly stays.

Bangar ran Ganguly out in the first One dayer vs Australia in the VB series, and was never selected again. Wonder why Kaif remains after running out two batsmen yesterday ?

This is no longer Ganguly building up team spirit. This is Ganguly running his personal feifdom.

One thing India need to work on is the balance in the team:

Dravid should be dropped from the ODI team, let Kaif take over the 'anchor' role.
Yeah, right and you know what else we should all do...run Kaif in the Olympics...

Drop Dravid for Kaif? That was the stupidest comment...oh wait you have more coming...

Yuvraj should open and be given a permanent place in the team - I would like to see sehwag lower down the order.
Totally disagree...Yuvraj should end his career and be given a temporary place only as a fielder as 12th man...He'd rather start a career in advertisements and modelling...true Sachin,Dravid,Kumble and others do commercials but Yuvraj has totally neglected Cricket it seems

Sehwag should be let to do what he wants...he himself once said he'd like to bat in middle order...hear your pet Mr. Saurav 'Bang'uly

Powar needs to be bought back in the team in place of agarkar, which reminds me....

I think the one thing thats working against India in ODI's is their lack of a quality all-rounder. Pakistan have 2 (razzaq and Malik), England have flintoff, SA have kallis, aus have clarke, symonds, lehman.
India really gotta give Powar a chance.
Obviously I am pi**ed off at the result of yesterday's match and the above comments, but your last one really made me laugh...

I dont mind Powar replacing AA or even Pathan for that matter, but just for the need of all-rounders you dont replace people who are either bowling or batting well and contribute to the team's success

AA is excellent fielder(rarest of rare times you see him misfield),on his day a very good hitter of the ball, just needs to brush up his batting talent(needs a personal coach and mentor) and he is and I mean 'IS' a good bowler and I think he is just the 2nd bowler for India to have taken 200 wickets in ODI's...he may not be consistent but neither is Ganguly consistent in keeping him in the team in fair amount of matches

AA deserves better...really...a better captain and better support from people...God Bless Him

Enough of sentiments...to sign off I'd like to say... Congrats to Bangladesh...a win is a win and they worked hard to beat not the best but a 'good' Indian team...
Dont do the injustice of commenting that Bangladesh only beat a second string side

could someone perhaps tell me why sriram was dropped?
Because he dared to blame Kaif for his dismissal. Any player who ****es off any of Gangulys pets (in this case, Kaif) is dropped. Nevermind that Kaif was at fault.

there i was thinking that sriram may get the international chances he desired since he was doing well - then he's dropped for very next match

Well, Ganguly must be royally ****sed off. He doesnt want the old boys club to be disturbed, and hence manages to keep Sriram away from the test team . Srirams performances at the domestic level cannot be ignored. So they give him a berth in the ODI side and hope he fails. He doesnt. But pretty boy Yuvraj has to play, so he drops Sriram now.

that sounds like a profound but accurate description of what's going on IMO

Dropping

Why should Kaif be dropped?

He didn't run sriram out, where you even watch the match.

Has been one of India's most consistent performers lately.

A run-out involving Dhoni was not his fault.

Yuvraj needs to play as well.

Sehwag
Sachin
Ganguly
Kaif
Dravid
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbajhan
Zaheer
ANOTHER BOWLER- depending on conditions

The top 3 go out and bang the ball.
Kaif and Dravid go at 5-6 runs a ball
And then Yuvi, Dhoni and lower order attack.

First 15 overs - 90/2
16-35 - 110/2
36-50 - 100/2

300 shud be an average score.

But India should be willing to change the batting order depending on the situation.

^Kaif didnt directly run Sriram out. But he refused to take a single when there was one to be taken, almost running out Sriram in the process. Sriram was perplexed as to why Kaif wouldnt run..the very next ball, he was stumped out ( it was more of a run out than a stumping ).

Yes, but Kaif probabaly makes around 10 runs just for other batsman with his running. It was a single but not a clear single and KAif would have been running to the danger end.

Also you trying to say he was responsible for sriram running out of his crease cluelessly? What was he doing? Also his innings was bad, really slow. Ok the pressure was on but if he had scored a little faster maybe India would have won.

All in all Kaif and Yuvraj are very important in India's ODI Side.

So Srirams 57 off 114 was "bad and really slow", while Kaifs 49 off 105 was excellente'?

As for Srirams stumping/runout, the seeds of doubt had been sown the previous delivery. It was definitely an easier single than many of the others Kaif had run for.
