**Official** India in Bangladesh Thread

If Bangladesh were to lose test status it wouldn't be because of their perfomance, they are a better team than when they got it. However when they got test status they had a domestic competition with four-day matches, now that has been replaced by Twenty20 :o

It was a big big mistake by the icc to grant Bangladesh test status.sooner or latter they should really be deprived of that, its not that i dislike them, its just that playing test cricket with them make no sense as they simply can't compete with other sides.
NZ took 27 years or something ridiculous like that till they got there first win. I think it is important to give them time. IMO it would be stupid for the ICC to back track and strip them of test status

oh they might have played their hearts out, but considering the standards which they've maintained on the international arena so far, playing their best equates to playing less poorly than usual(when you compare it to the standards of the other regular test playing nations...).....forget the wordplay, a mediocre bangladesh played as well as they can and the indian xi played absolutely mediocre cricket and the less mediocre team on the day won.....i just don't see that as an advertisement for international cricket, that's all...
and this indian side will continue to play mediocrely as long as the likes of agarkar, zaheer and nehra are picked.

its important to show improvement at the test match level within that period too. bangladesh never deserved test status in the first place, they were horribly mediocre right from the start. they did however somehow manage to get 400 in their first test, since then though have they shown any improvement?

hence if you ask me, they dont deserve test match status.
Yes maybe the shouldn't have got it in the first place but give them another five years atleast. Otherwise the whole exercise was pointless

well they've already had nearly 5 years, another 5 years would be pointless. if they dont improve in the next 5 years, the icc would have wasted 10 years on a team that didnt improve during the period. not to mention the other teams having to tour them and play tri series with them.especially with zimbabwe in it, it makes it one minnow too many.

The Pakistan match that they so nearly won, plus the game in WI this year.

Also I seem to remember that they didn't disgrace themselves against Australia and just over 12 months ago England didn't wipe the floor with them.

yes they nearly won against pakistan who somehow managed to stoop to new inconsistent levels. not to mention that the pakistan side lacked some of their regular players.the game against the WI they were competitive, but even in that game the WI were in good position in the 2nd innings to win it.
but they followed that test with 5 inning defeats which really is quite poor.

they didnt disgrace themselves against australia perhaps if you were expecting them to lose in a day. they still failed to dismiss australia in either of the tests and lost by an innings in both.

as mediocre as they are, they should still swat aside bangladesh easily....they must have been sleep-walking when they lost that odi...

I think it was their overconfidence, sometimes its difficult to perform to the optimal level when the opponent you are facing are no better than club standards.

perhaps so, but india really do go from playing really good, to complete rubbish against all teams.
