*Official* India in Australia Thread

Chopra is the exact type of player you need in this Indian lineup.
He sets the platform by negotiating the quicks & even if he scores 30 off about 120 balls, India are still reaching 320 by stumps because Sehwag, Tendulkar, Laxman etc are able to take advantage of the annoyed & tiring bowlers.

He's the ideal of foil for Sehwag, much like Ewen Chatfield was for Richard Hadlee back in the 1980's.

Ganguly finally declares. Should have done it last night when Tendulkar got to 200. Surely no chance of a result now.

Ganguly declared but i kinda feel bad for Sachin he could have broke Laxman's record as the highest inning by an indian and he also had a chace at the world record but by then the match would be a definate draw. Next time Sachin.

Welcome to CW quytst0rm. :)

I think Ganguly declared nicely and it would have been silly to let Sachin bat on to chase Laxman's record.

Re: Tendulkar: New year... new man.

There is nothing in the pitch for the seamers except for that crack . I liked the way Kartik bowled in that one over. It has to be the spinners who have to do it for India. It will be interesting to see how the Aus face the spinners. They will definately attack them and therein lies the chance for the Indians.

Btw, Liam your prediction on Langer seems to be coming right :!(

Yes, I believe this was the right declaration. Now Australia are going to need 505 to avoid the follow-on which is quite a task in and of itself.

Hayden & Langer are running at Kartik like there's no tomorrow , looks like someone dosent wanna settle for a draw in his last test

I can smell the urgency all the way from Sydney. :wow:

I aplaud the Aussie starters on a brilliant start. I, however, wish they don't keep going this way.:P

I don't expect anything less than 550 from AUS. If India can tame a better aussie bowling, then certainly,AUS can crush the low class Indian bowling(only Kumble is an exception). I had always considered Karthik as a third class bowler and even I had mentioned that here when most of u (Amits is at first) commeneted him as a real threat to AUS. Unfortunaltely he is the only known left arm spinner in the first calss cricket in india now.

Kudos to the openers, Langer is playing one of his best innings..just hope he doesn't misjudge the flight in ball from the spinners, like Hayden did. The match may very well end a draw! Aussie run rate is over 5 :saint:

No this game isn't a draw yet.

The Aussies are scoring at 4.96 at the moment and with 40 overs left in the day's play, they could be 400 by stumps. Say they declare at Lunch trailing by 150-odd, it would be interesting if Ganguly would make a game of it.

Hmm...

I just don't see India winning, nor do I see Australia winning, we got 7 sessions left now on, both teams gotta bowl each other out atleast once, even if Oz declares at lunch tomorrow, things don't change... This game is draw unless we get to see someone bowl spectactularly well.

It could end up pretty interesting actually.
Say Australia declare at lunch tomorrow 180 odd behind.
Ganguly could then-

a) be a real pr*ck & bat out the match for a draw

b) hit another couple of hundred & declare overnight , setting up a thrilling final day with Australia chasing 400 odd to regain the trophy in Waugh's last test , gives both sides a pretty decent chance.

c) Australia could bowl them out & be set about 300-350 in a day.

I'd take any of the last two , both sides would have an even chance IMO , if anything it would favour India with the wicket starting to break up & turn.
Only worry is the weather forecast , says late showers tomorrow getting heavier on Tuesday :( :(
