3 days to go though, so how do India play this?

Bat on or declare overnight?
Bat on, set 550 or so to avoid the follow-on, declare half an hour before lunch, give the ball to AA, give the ball to Kumble, give the ball to Kartik, scratch head, finally give the ball to Tendulkar who rips through the Aussies (hey, it's more plausible than Brett Lee bowling well)

Considering Australia will bat last & that Sydney does take turn...the names Kartik & Kumble could also spell trouble.

Kartik has been un-seen so far on this tour & the times that I have seen him bowl to the Australian batsmen, he has caused them more than their fair share of headaches.

I wouldn't rule out Tendulkar as the golden-arm now that he's got a double century behind him.

I don't think India should bat for too much longer though or yes, this will be a draw & a disappointing way to end considering the position they are currently in. Probably the best any side has been touring Australia in many a year.

Yeah, as it stands, Australia will need 450 to avoid the follow-on, which is not very difficult by Aussie standards. India should go till the Aussie requirement is atleast 500, hence significantly increasing chances of enforcing the follow-on.

Indians are doing wonderfully well in this serie even though thay are missing the four bowlers whom they would have liked to start the series with

srinath,Zaheer,Harbhajan,Nehra

Our bowling (Australia's) has been so bad this series accept for Gillespie who always bowls like a warrior.

I cant see this match ending in anything but a draw unless the Australian batsman totaly lose the plot or the pitch suddeny changes dramaticly.
Dont worry u r batsmen might lose the plot or the pitch might change any way india is going to win the series.kumble getiing 8 and karthik 6 in the match

And please reffer with u r bowlers r they bowling bad or r the indians batsmen playing well

This is were we need Warne, because MacGill, isnt really that good, i mean all he does is spin the ball, he doesnt have that special something, that Warne has to brake up a partnership, such as todays 350.
And just a suggestion, but with the new ball why dont they aim the ball at leg so it swing back in line with the stumps?

The Indian batsmen played particularly well, but the Aussie attack - Gillespie excepted - were utterly woeful.

One more reason why MacGill's days are numbered - Warne can catch. MacGill would be hard-pushed to catch a fish in an aquarium.

What can I say?!?!?!

Im speechless!!

Im so proud of these guys, especially Sachin, who is back with a vengeance!

It takes a legend to come out like he has when the chips were down, and for me he has re asserted his position as the best batsman of our generation.

Both. Australian bowlers have bowled like **** but the Indian batsman have played very well. (Australia have also droped alot of catches India has actualy been better at holding there catches this series)

Australia have not picked there strongest bowling attack there are better option's being ignored by the selectors IMO.

I also feel had Australia batted first they would have been in a very simular position proably if they were not all out a few more run's than India because they bat more aggresivly.

For mine unless the Australian batsman let the pressue get to them (it's possible) India wont bowl them out.

WARNE !!!???? against INDIA ??, ..:O
best joke of 2004:D :D
Not a joke he has Dravid out more time's than any other bwoler around the world and Dravid has been bloody hard to dismis this series.

Ok so he has a poor record against India but most of that has been due to performance's against them In India and on his debute at the SCG.

Other than that when ever he has bowled to Indian batsman In Australia he has done quite well.

As all knows , Indians wickets are very ideal for quality spinners. Almost all spinners except for Warne had done well against India in India.(even Warne admits that he is ineffective against India). Warne had played in many ODIs against INdia ,even out side India, with no effect.
Right hand leg spinners are not a problem for the indian batters but Off spinners are..( Murali, Saqlain, wiseman,..

credit where credit is due.. india have played the best that any overseas team has done in many years.. they seem to be taking up the attack to the australians where in the past teams have crumbled.. in saying that there is a distinct lack of quality in the fielding area of the australians, which is seen by stuart macgill.. not only cant he catch, hes round arm nothings have struggled to make even mediocre batsmen look bad.. the whoole australian attack seems to be struggling, except gillespie. Lees rythym is shot to bits and his fearsome pace is GONE.. i think australia will put up a big fight but still. our batting hasnt changed as our bowling and fielding has

Statisticly not all spinners actualy do that well In India.

Genraly spinners who flight the ball like Warne get carted in India but if you bowl it a bit flater and faster like Kumble or Harbajan then you will do better because off the eratic bounce and turn.

Murili is an exeption but genraly flater faster spinners do well in the sub contenent like Giles for example.

Only Kumble is the one who doesn't flight at all.( harbhajan does it frequently). We had Venkat'Raju, Maninder singh, Ravi Shastri, Hirwani, Sivaramktrishnan..(of course the old fellows Bedi, Prasanna,Venkat) all were good filghters and had done exceptionally well in India.
But against India, most of the spinner's success were form off-spin.To be more specific, I would stress on OFF-SPINNERS. (Taufiq Ahammed,Greg Mathews, Bracewell,Murali,Saqlain, Wiseman, Miller, ... all were successful against India ).You can't name many successful leggys against India..so is Warne..
If Brad Hogg was there in the eleven, then sure India would have faced some real problem which no warne can give.

Ok - Steve Waugh's dream scenario.
Bowl India out tomorrow morning @700
Australia bats - fails to reach the follow on and is sent in again.
Australia bats again - sets India a moderate total to win and bowls them out and wins the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Steve Waugh is a hero by taking 8 wickets on a cracking pitch which stays low (after he scores a hundred in each innings)

We can all dream can't we?:D :D :P
