*Official* India in Australia Thread

Sanjay Bangar is reported to have been called up by Indian team management in place of Harbhajan.

Meanwhile , the off field activities are getting a big ugly every passing day with the Indian supporters getting abused, bottles being thrown at them and a mickey being made out of Gandhi . Some stupids are spoiling it for the whole crowd which i thought was excellent and very appreciative of the Indian players too.

BTW, it speaks volumes of their wisdom if they refer to Indians as muslims and saddam

I was one of the people who predicted a 3-0 shutout of the Indians with one game possibly rained out or something. Although technically that is still possible, the way the Indians have played has warmed my cynical heart. I never expected them to fight so hard and for this long. Whatever be the result of this series, I Just hope they keep fighting till the end and do their best.

Kudos to India for their fantastic effort so far!!!:P

Nice work Katich. I'll ask Trevor Hohns if he'd like me to make the call to Clarke.
Clarke isn't even next in line, and Katich has performed better than others in this match...

I believe the AAAS will be buying the next round at the CW Bar.

Drinks are on the house for the rest of the year after that one.

The power of the AAAS is not to be underestimated. He must surely be classed the best bowler in the World ever!!!!!!!!! ;)

India should win this test match now, though Aussies are going to make India hard for every run they get, but India can do it!
The key word there is "should" - I'm glad to see that you recognise that it is not yet a foregone conclusion, and if any side can come from this position to win the game, then it's Australia.

for me, it's about 65-35 in favour of India (mainly because Australia don't have McGrath or Warne - if one or both of them were playing, it'd be a different story IMO)

the countdown has started. 193 runs left for an historic win. this will surely be 1 of the greatest indian win ever, if not the greatest.
For once I actually agree with you!!!

IMO this would be the greatest win in the history of Indian Test Cricket (83 taking the OD of course!)

You wouldn't believe how many people can't wait for Clarke to make his Test Debut and fail due to your constant over-hyping of him. He's a good young player but at the moment I think he's a better prospect of being the next "Balaji"

(Player who was over-hyped and failed so miserably we just have to feel sorry for him)

Darn, I suppose that Agarkar interview is now out of the question! Trust him to actually take the spotlight during the only Test we actually have someone from this forum attending who would interview him (or are there more)?

Well India has not won yet.... but nevertheless, I would rate the wins against Australia at Kolkata in 2001 and West Indies at Port of Spain in 1976 while making the highest 4th innigs total to win the match against the likes of Holding and co. , as being the greatest wins for India in test cricket.

Thanks Linda! :!(

Rik, who is to say he'd fail?

Mark, lets wait and see what happens in the 'A' game before we start throwing stones about who's next in line. All four contenders should be there with bells on.

Never said he'd fail, just saying if he did, with all your hyping of him, you'll never live it down. That's why we don't make huge claims about players.

If I remember correctly the person who claimed Balaji would be India's next savior, doesn't post here now.

Well I'm not holding out too much hope for this match, but if there's something that the Australians have got in spades, it's the ability to win from this position.
So many teams have sensed a win against Australia and choked when they needed to perform.

Interesting - for me (assuming it happens) this surpasses Kolkata for the fact that Aus scored a huge first innings score, and it was on their own patch when they are currently such a dominant side.

Must confess I'd forgetten about the 1976 game!

Don't go discounting Australia yet guys. Neither MacGill or Bichel have bowled Australia to victory in a tight situation and this is their biggest chance yet. They are both fighters and love a challenge. But whatever happens this is one of the great tests. Over 1000 runs in both teams first innings and there still will be a result. AMAZING!!!
