*Official* India in Australia Thread

Then if iti s likely to be a typical Brisbane wicket, then india should bat first.

Play defensively for the first sesson or so and when it improves for battiing then let rip, this after all a weakish Australian bowling line-up and India should realise that.

I think India should ignore what their fans think and go out there and play their natural game and believe in themselves that they can beat Australia. They should also look at Bangladesh when they came here, expecially at Darwin where IMO I dont think anybody could say they disagraced themselves where in fact many were praising some of their players.

MB by you attitude I get the picture that India might as well go home right now?

Dont use the word 'will' as nothing in most cases is truely definate.
Oh Craig, I wholeheartedly agree with you there, I was just responding to a over-patriotic fan. Yeah sure, India has the talent on paper, they just need to match it on the field and in their heads. Mentally, Australia are ahead of every other team in the history of test cricket.

India have a fighting chance to draw one, or even two games. I can't see them winning, although if anyone has the talent to beat Australia since South Africa/New Zealand came down under here its India.

Anyway talk is talk, fans can say whatever they like, India have to walk the walk basically. John Wright will know that he has a harsh, harsh tour on his hands. Invariably, an Aussie tour does change an outlook of an Indian side in future years to come.

1999/00 Squad Members who came to Australia who aren't here:

Devang Gandhi
Hrishikesh Kanitkar
Vijay Bharadwaj
MSK Prasad
Debashish Mohanty
Thiru Kumaran
Nikhil Chopra
BKV Prasad
Javagal Srinath

Well thats half the squad which came here pretty much gone.

Welcome Mr BigQuickBowler, nice to see you're a whole lot different from the other Aussies here  :P (Though you probably are 90% correct)

No need for arrogance comments as your comments look like you're quite arrogant but we have found out you just have mis-placed confidence :P ;)

I continue to believe Lincolnshire will win the 2004 C&G Trophy... same difference...

Like I said, there's patriotism, and there's delusion. "Support" of that kind does more harm than good IMO

lol I just found this at the bladder.com

Indian Team Slogan

The secret slogan drafted by the Indian cricket team to help conjure a Test victory over Australia has been leaked exclusively to the Bladder.

Indian opener Virender Sehwag said the motivational slogan was the result of weeks of painstaking research and experimentation.

"We kicked around a lot of ideas," Sehwag said. "We were looking for something short, something snappy, that would really encapsulate our belief and team spirit and give us the extra edge we need to conquer the Aussies.

"The first slogan we came up with was 'Who knows? We might get lucky', but we needed more conviction. We tried 'Some people would pay 3 million rupees to be in this team, and several actually have', 'Be like Pakistan's Inzamam: Play like a tiger with the arse of an elephant', then the straightforward 'Give the strike to Sachin'.

"Then there was 'Australian girls are easy, but they only sleep with winners'. That last one was VVS Laxman's idea.

"A few of the guys wanted to make something from the inspirational message we received from the Indian Prime Minister a few days before leaving for the tour. It read: 'Win and you will be treated as Gods. Lose and you will die a horrible and brutal death. Now go out there and play your best.'

"For a while we thought we had hit upon it when Rahul (Dravid) suggested 'We're blue, we're yellow, we're fond of saying hello'."

Sehwag said that, after rejecting several more slogans, including 'Death by a thousand long hops' and 'Who dares, loses 8-53', the Indian team finally settled on their tour motto last Friday.

Written on outsized ****tail napkin owned by Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, the slogan reads: 'Try not to play like arses'.

"We think we've really nailed it with this one," Sehwag said. "Bring on the Test Series. Death to the enemy!"

"That didn’t make me sound too much like an arse, did it?" he added.

I just checked weather.com and it says that thunderstorms are probable for the weekend in Brisbane. I was planning to order the matches on satellite (I live in Canada), but how much do you guys think the weather will effect play, I'm not very familiar with Australia's weather patterns :(

wether should be allright even if there is a storm or two they usualy dont last long in Brisbane and the drainage at the gabba is about as good as you will get.

Rain is the only thing that can save India. The forecast is for a late storm on Friday followed by rain periods on Saturday and Sunday. Eclipse is right though. the Gabba ground has one of teh best drainage systems in teh world. I went to a state one day game last season and there was 3 hours of constant rain but the match was still finished though very late at night.

ANd when it rains it really buckets down. It is humid today.

It is liekly there will be a green top and they are predicting doom and gloom for India.

Agin India should look at Bangladesh at Cairns where they batted well on a green wicket.

Also another thing that is bugging me is that everybody is saying it will suit Australia, yet Australia have to bat ion the same wicket and all of Matt Hayden's runs since 2001 have all been on flat wickets (all his big scores).

The match starts on Thursday doesn't it?

In that case, they won't need much of the weekend!

Yes, Matt Hayden being the only batsman on the team and all. :P There are plenty of quality batsmen on the Aussie team who will handle it.
Now don't go saying 'no Ged you fat idiot, India have a quality batting lineup aswell' as I know this. It's just their bowling sucks
