david hoitink,

lol dude you are the one being arrogant .
I hope for a compeditive series to but there is little to no chance of India winning it IMO.

I think the series will be fairly competitive, Australia should win
3-0 or 2-1 IMO. Still not convinced about Australia's pace attack, I still think they lack a little inconsistency at test level without Mcgrath. Also, it's hard to tell about Australia's true form lately. Indeed their last 2 test series were against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

I thought they were "shocking". Honestly, how can you say a team who can't beat a State 2nd XI, can beat the best in Australia?! Even someone as clearly bias as yourself should see that.
To be honest, I cannot see a whole lot of logic in your posts.

Since when has logic got anything to do with posting on Cricket Web? And, for that matter, the performance of India in test match cricket?

After the way England started in Australia last winter, would you have given them ANY sniff of a draw, let alone winning the final match?

I can quite easily see India picking up a victory in a test match (although I don't think I'd go as far as saying the series) - although I don't think that it will be the final one (Waugh's farewell).

It will be very difficult for india to win a match...... as they lack quality seamers which are essential to win a game in Australia. India might win if Nehra, zaheer and other seamers bowl well against australins......what worries me most is there inexperience....But i am backing india to play good cricket.

This is pretty much the same QAS team who narrowly defeated Bangladesh a few months ago, by the way.

Appalling is the one word I can use for India.

These 'fans' just dont get it do they?

I can see it now,

ML Hayden 241*
AC Gilchrist 121*

Zaheer Khan 1/164
Ashish Nehra 1/189
Sachin Tendulkar 2/76
Harbhajan Singh 1/86

I have a funny feeling that Sachin Tendulkar will be India's leading wicket taker in the series with about 6 wickets.

Adam Gilchrist has been saying in the papers that India have fantastic spinners and fantastic quicks in Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.

Is it me, or is he the designated person to say diplomatic stuff and not sound arrogrant in the media?

He also said that India's middle order is good as anybodies in world cricket, even Australia's.

On paper yes, he is very much correct, but in India it is a different story then in Australia. But then again, India have no pressure on them.

Everybody is expecting Australia to wipe India off the cricketing stage, so they may feel they have pressure on them and might just/should go out and play their natural game.

And Mr Khan should keep his mouth shut before going out there swearing this and that like he did in the WC Final.

It's only good for him and his teammates (just like all athletes) because he sure doesn't want to challenge the Indians on a personal level. If he took a shot at them (and their pride), they may just develop that fire needed to compete against Australia. Everyone knows India has the talent to match the Aussies; just not the determination, guts, intensity and attitude. But if you hurt a man's pride, those qualities come firing back. We've seen this happen so many times not only in cricket but many other sports.

And cricket is a very funny, yet cruel game...we all know that. Australia losing this series to India is unlikely, not impossible. If that happens, Aussies will have enough criticism heaped on them; I'm sure Gilly doesn't want to come out sounding like the idiot who fired up the Indians.

Well i've seen Gilchrist do this before, its not unusual for teams to compliment the opposition players. But im sure Gilchrist aswell as the other Australian players know that they'll be very confident they can beat India 4-0.

It's easier to admire players who can draw the line between confidence and arrogance. Australian team is full of them.

No matter how badly india performs in these matches, i think India will play much better and much tougher cricket in the 1st test. but still i have no hope of ganguly doing anything with his batting. Dravid will come out well at the end

Yeah.

Let's not forget that it's only two years since NZ drew a test series with Australia, and Australia were lucky to get away with that. While the Indians lack the leadership of that team, they have far more talent, and it only takes one batsman or bowler to cut loose at a significant moment, and India can steal a test. India have a number of players capable of it.

That said, three or four - nil still seems most likely. But it's no forgone conclusion.

Australia were lucky to get away with it, hardly, NZ were the lucky ones

NZ were ten runs behind with four wickets in hand at the end of the first test.

Sure - it was a bold declaration that put them in that position, but the point is Australia is not as invulnerable as we would like to believe. One bold declaration combined with a day out for Tendulkar, Dravid or even Ganguly and things could get interesting.

Not will, just could.
