Still not sold on Pandya's bowling for World T20...I think we should have someone like Binny or Bhajji or Mishra or Umesh even if that makes the batting less awesome

I didn't watch the game but I'm absolutely stoked Watson did so well in his rightful position of opener (and captain ). It should cement his spot in the squad at least but he really is so much better as an opener in limited overs cricket than he is anywhere else, so here's to Finch retiring or something.
Haha ya specially for the World T20 which will be played in India you can now arguably say that Watson is their best opener and it's upto Warner and Finch to fight for the other spot somehow

Maxwell shouldn't play in top 4 too imo. He should be used as a finisher.

Yeah, I think at this point I'd probably bat Finch at 3.

Khawaja at 3 makes sense too, thereby dropping Finch

Warner
Watson
Khawaja/Finch
Smith
Maxwell
Head

This top 6 looks solid, only if they had more than 1 half-decent bowler who is not injured

You'll struggle to find anyone who rates Finch less than I do, but his T20I record is still pretty awesome so it'd be a harsh dropping. I personally rate Lynn ahead of Head and Khawaja too (particularly in India), so I'd be leaning towards:

1. Watson
2. Warner
3. Finch
4. Smith
5. Maxwell
6. Lynn

Especially with the squad they just selected.
Arguably, they have the best, certainly most dangerous looking side T20 squad. They have very dangerous spinners to aid their absolute destructive batting lineup. They have every chance.

Darren Sammy (capt), Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Jerome Taylor.

How did the Aussies lose the second match? At one point they were coasting to victory. They could have easily won this series 2-1. I think inexperience told in the end. I also think it's time they let go of Tait. He has played in the T20 side of some years now and to me he doesn't bring much to the table anymore other than sheer pace, which though can rip through teams, can be costly, if wayward.

Australia are going to struggle come the World T20. India has the perfect batting line-up for this format. They're showing it's not really about aiming for big shots (6s) to win T20s. It's more about being aggressive, running hard between the wickets, intent, picking up boundaries and taking slight calculated risks. They're favourites for the Asia cup and World T20 championship. They don't have the fast bowlers, but they got the spinners anyway. Runs are which matter in this format, and they have a lot of them, so their fast bowlers will come into play even though they're not great.

I won't read too much into Australia's performance in this T20 series. They are not going to play this team in the World T20, not this bowling attack.

This series in many ways reflected the different interests of Australian selectors/team management and Cricket Australia. After a long summer of test cricket, the selectors didn't really care much and never really played a full strength side, esp in the T20s.

Yeah, it is hard to judge Aus T20 side with their bowling stocks so depleted. I think Maxwell is coming in to high in the order though.

It's shameful that wasn't their Test squad.

Saw some of the game, I love me some Tait but he's really not there at all and seems to be getting worse. He's clearly on the selector's minds for the first XI but he may really come undone if he keeps bowling like he has.

Such a Shame for Bancroft that he missed that stumping too. Was a good night for him with the gloves otherwise, leg-side take he got to from Tait was special because it was hooning. Liking Cam Boyce more over time too.

Whatever it takes!!!
I tend toward the pessimistic when it comes to Australia in T20, but a top 8 of:

Warner, Finch, Khawaja, Watson, Smith, Lynn, Maxwell, Wade, Faulkner

would be hard to beat

Wow... you expect better from someone who keeps asking other posters not to embarrass themselves... :p

Khawaja has to make way. Prefer Lynn over him as of now. Lynn at 5 or 6? Guess the question also asks Maxi at 5 or 6.
