Good one from Rahane, really needs to better his conversion rate though considering the form he is in atm.

Yeah missed out last test, has another opportunity now to get a 100, would have been so awesome if he had 4 more runs @ Durban. Imagine an Indian batsmen with tons in his first tour to SA,NZ,ENG, and AUS.

Was such an awesome knock too. There was one shot where he slapped that fat **** Philander over cover which gave me a boner.

Regarding Rahane playing too many shots, I'm not too bothered by most of his attacking strokes except his pulls. He's one of the most compulsive players of the pull I've ever seen... Just can't seem to resist.

I really like Clarke's commentary ftr. He naturally focuses almost exclusively on the Australians but is very insightful.

Warne and Chappell on the other hand..

Rahane looks dodgy starting off vs everyone but once he settles oddly enough he has looked most dodgy vs the Spinners and particularly offies on these tours.

7 Dismissals at average of 22 off Off Spinners according to the earlier stat shown.

Warne was actually really good when I last heard him commentating, which was back in the Ashes in England.

Has he really regressed so much since then? The bits I've heard of him this series has been alright.

he's good when he's not (a) banging on with some agenda and (b) trying to act like one of "the boys". unfortunately that's very very common

they're gunning it these two, exceptional running between the wickets. Imagine if it was Laxman hahaaa...

IIRC he said one should be ready to "lose to win" about 50 times in the same sentence.

He has a reputation for been poor against spin doesn't he? May be a massive concern if they tour Lanka and UAE next year.

Think the accepted theory with Warne is his quality is very dependent on his co commentators. Hence him probably seeming better in England in 2013.

The problem with Warne is the random cliches like naming everybody who he has played with/against in the IPL as a 'busy cricketer'.

Nah he's fine, a bit over eager perhaps and maybe doesn't quite have the number of shots against the spinners compared to some of the other bats but I can't see him struggling against spin.

You'd think it's impossible to do be the absolute best batsman in Indian FC cricket for two years like Rahane has and be bad against spin. Hopefully it's just standard deceptive Rahane awkwardness.

Gotta think the management must encourage the fanboy type behaviour at 9, over time its become a culture of lazy cliche lines, fan boyish behavior and lack of any real insight.

Probably why commentator's sound good on first few outings then go downhill

Once you hear Brad McNamara commentate then you'll understand exactly why they are what they are.

One argument I've heard for this style is we're able to recognize some of these things as cliches and obvious because a lot of CW watches a ****load of test cricket. For the standard fan who watches a bit of a few home tests every year and make up the majority of the audience, this is probably entertaining.
