The problem with that also as someone said yesterday. That disadvantages the other team
Who’s not wasting time if they suddenly bowl them out then they have to bowl later in the day and stay out longer when they did nothing wrong. Which is a good point.

I said yesterday also I think ICC and mainly the umpires need to grow more stones. In areas regarding things like reducing players and captains from frequently stopping play and talking to their bowlers or whoever about tactics it happens like 15-30 times a day or when people ask for drinks or gloves more often etc. Those sorts of things waste like 5-10 overs a day already in my opinion. A bowler has a chat with their captain about tactics that’s like a ball being bowled of time wasted you times those chats by 20-30 a day that’s overs gone
Why do the umpires let batsmen call for drinks 10 minutes after the drinks break? Winds me up.

ICC could sort over rates out if they really wanted to. Umpires to clamp down on all the nonsense like you say, and 25 runs per over lost. They’d get their overs in easily.

That’s what I’m saying it should be more on the umpires and icc but they are no where near as tough as officials in other sports to police this sort of stuff. They let captains do this stuff to often. I mean how many times do you see Broad go up and have a chat to Jimmy mid over for example plenty of examples of it with other players. I know it’s important to have these chats but it happens way too often

Disappointing this. With enough time I think we could have knocked that deficit off and thrown the bat for a while before declaring, and set the poms a tricky target. There goes our chance at 4-1.

Still, great declaration from Stokes. Always worth letting things drift to let your mate get a half century. :D

I think cricket could look at baseball as an example. I loosely follow baseball and strikes me as having similarities; an obsession with stats and traditionalists apparently opposed to change.

They’ve brought in a pitch clock this year though. Not been without controversy but average game time has been reduced by 20+ minutes! It shouldn’t be that difficult to get things moving on the cricket pitch.

Umpires allow the players get away with murder in terms of time wasting.

Take the over before tea yesterday when Green was clearly wasting time so there wouldn't be another over.

I'm not having a go at Green as any player would do the same.

He wasn't ready once when Mo was ready to bowl - this is clearly against the rules but nothing was done.

I know this is one small example that in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter, but it typifies players time wasting.

Its amusing that t20 which is the format for the "young" and those who don't have the time for ODI or Test cricket is getting longer and longer.

Some of the IPL games go past 4 hours, the blast for all its flaws is actually pleasantly quick in comparison.
