I have never rated Clattenberk and can't believe he is a guy who gets to go tournaments. Guess it shows how bad the standard of officials is in this country at present.

Rashford brilliant though.

His general play is ponderous and ordinary.

But you have to factor in his lack of legs. Every other player on the pitch will help to support attack or defence more than him simply by the fact they will get up and down the pitch more and be in a position that even if the ball doesn't go to them or the player they're covering they are actually contributing. They're marking someone or stretching the defensive line. Rooney makes it look like you're playing with 10 3/4 players.

Oh yeah completely. He's terrible. This isn't close to his worst performance this season though. I feel like a lot of England fans are watching him for the first time in a while and having a sudden crisis over the fact that he'll probably start at the Euros.

The main thing for me was the quality of the cross from a very awkward body position (running away from goal). Really the defence ushered him away from goal so that made the run look better than it was, there was no need to dive in and give a free kick away whilst he was running down a cul-de-sac.

In the Euros that would be a second yellow. Whether you agree or not (I don't think it should be, but the other player would be rolling around like he's shot and they'd mob the referee).

Yes, for once Shearer was right about him getting tight.

It does also reflect the fact that if Rooney is one of your deep lying players then you are going to struggle on counter attacks. Manure were in a trouble on that counter attack even without the crap defending.
