Must say my initial memory was that it was a cup final as well...but was before my time really...so just went with what wiki said.

Wiki also says in the LC final article for that year that he was injured in the celebrations. He scored the winner in that game so it makes sense

I remember him receiving his winner's medal for the league cup before the FA Cup final as well

Same finals that year, ushered in the squad numbers era

Would definitely be another option for Barca; Bale's a very direct runner which, as the Chav and Real games have shown, they lack.

£40m is a good price for the Spurts too, so the story is, at least, plausible.

£35m and I'm assuming you'd have Aguero and that we've just had a misunderstanding? As I meant it's Spurs doing the robbing.

Would be a really interesting move if it happens - though this is the same Talksport, it should be noted, who two days ago were going crazy on the "Van Persie to United" rumour.

£40m isn't a good price for Spurs. It's daylight robbery.
Aye, 'arry would be laughing all the way to the bank as per usual. They're paying for scarcity rather than quality, really. Bale's comically overrated in terms of ability even before you consider his fitness record, but there's no one in the world who gives you anything like what he brings on the left.

Also, he's phenomenal to watch. Presumably that matters to Barca.

Javi Martinez to Barca is apparently a done deal from months back, so unless Barca sell, how can they afford 40 million for a guy who will play left back for them?
5 million euros a year as well, yeah right.

Yeah and Spurs allowing him to just roam wherever the **** he wants has been so detrimental to them the last few months.

Jordi Alba been linked with Barcelona all year, he would not be cheap but probably half the price of Bale.
