Makes a mockery of Fifa's no retrospective action rule, as Brumby alluded to earlierMight be the worst tackle I've ever seen, basically an assault.
He was asked to do that role when we had a fit Hargreaves, Fletcher and Carrick. That's more than enough defensive strength in midfield. We even had to field Hargreaves out on the right at times. He was playing deeper to round out his game since we don't often play with an outright AM. Closest to that is Rooney. The main reason for Anderson's failure to progress is his lack of professionalism, inconsistency and injuries. Modric used to play as an AM but has easily made playing as a CM seem natural to him.Off the field he hasn’t done himself many favours but it also didn’t help that he came to the club as a talented attacking midfielder and has been asked to play a holding defensive role to make up for the inadequacies of the other centre midfielders at the club.
Moot point on Hazard mind, as he said he will be wearing blue next season and United can't afford him anyhow.
As a front 3 it's an interesting combination.Welbeck on his own? Nooooo.
I'd have Crouch, Carroll, Sturridge and even the Ox ahead of him for that role.
He's supporting Rooney or he's not travelling.
Hodgson plays 4-4-2 90% of the time, so I don't think that's very likely. Particularly since it involves shoehorning Rooney and Gerrard into sub-optimal positions.I'll be surprised if Hodgson goes for width, especially in the latter stages of the tournament (if England get there). I think with that in mind the best front line is this:
-------------------Carroll
------Rooney----------------Gerrard
-----------------------------------
-------Barry--------------Lampard
------------------Parker
