*Official* English Football Season 2011-12

The few times he's played for 'Pool there this season he was actually very good. His crossing to Carroll was wonderful as well. I think with Kenny resting him the last few weeks he has basically prepared himself for the Euros.

Anyway, was thinking about the Europa league and IMO they should give a qualifying spot to the winner for the Champions league. I know people think it would devalue the comp but everyone already knows that the CL > EL. This way, every team will try far harder to win IMO.
I agree. Have said it before, not on here but. Would add prestige.

I also think the CL winner should get a nationless spot, what I mean by that is the team who wins qualifies and then that coUntry gets their usual allocation on top.

I could be wrong but I think this might have happened back when only the champs qualified. Certainly, there were two English teams in it a few times in the late 70s and early 80s.

Agree regards the Europa thing, whole tournament should be knockout as well I think, would cut down the number of games and make the whole thing a lot more fun.

They did, hence how Forest won it twice despite only winning the league once

Andy Townsend in that Milner/Terry clip. Remind me why everyone thinks he's a moron again?

That happens for all bar the top 3 ranked nations. UEFA's rules are that a country can have no more than 4 entrants, so if a team from Italy won it but failed to finish in the top 3 then there wouldn't be a problem.

What a servant he's been. Kind of bloke who, if you cut him in half, you'd expect to see "Arsenal" written through him like a stick of rock.

Hope it is just a well-earned retirement & nothing more sinister.

Telegraph's all over the place with Stevie's stats tho:

The Torygraph said:
The 49-year-old made 72 appearances for the club as a player between 1998 and 1999, winning three league titles, two FA Cups, a League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1994.
Just 72 games in two years, during which he won three titles & a CWC four years before he joined.

Steve Morrow iirc.

Edit: according to wiki it was actually the FA Cup Semi-Final, and he missed the final itself as a result of the injury haha.

Reckon wiki is wrong but no doubt Brumby will confirm. I reckon it was the League Cup Final which was not long before the FA Cup Final that season.
