It's massive debt and more has been added to it IIRC. Simply put, those resources don't add up to much when you consider that the huge transfer fees and wages, plus maintenance and the like. Add the debt to that and it's not so clear cut. Basically, I mean that a constant stream of success is necessary to facilitate that merchandising and the like. Trophies give more prestige and attract more followers. Too big a drop in revenue from any of those sources following a bit of trophyless seasons and the debt becomes harder to pay off. Plus the club itself pays that debt, not the Glazers so the club needs to continue making lots of money to service it and keep everything running.
Thats the only part of what you have said that is correct, however, unless something goes hideously wrong, Man Utd will remain one of the most wealthy clubs in the world for a very long time.

Find it amusing that for so long Benitez has refused to offer £15m for Barry, but yet was recently quoted as saying £17m for Peter Crouch would not be unreasonable.

Not the only part. Got my info from a creditable objective source. And some other info from a Man Utd fan who's pretty knowledgeable on matters concerning the club. Winning needs to continue basically. Not necessarily every season but often enough.

I wish Man Utd would go into meltdown, but I can't see it.

Tranmere V Liverpool on Saturday, sold out, be the only time PP is full this season you can bet :@ 8-) all the plastic tunnel rat ***** that will turn up in their red shirts, **** them, we could be a big club if you all got behind the whites

Taking my little girl, (5 years old) as I said I would take her to a meaningless game sometime this season. Bit of a risky strategy as she sometimes tries to tell me she supports Liverpool (influenced by the missus' side of my family who never go to a game either) but thinking that my taking her can make her a true white. We best not get rolled over!

Live on Setanta for anyone who is interested btw. Can only assume gate receipts and TV money are going to get us a couple of players as we currently do not have any.

Galliani: Adebayor is negotiable
Adriano Galliani also reported a big news story: "Today we have received a note from Arsenal which says they are open to negotiate for Adebayor, contrary to what they said on 13 June. The English club have told us they are available to be contacted to negotiate for the player. This is a step forward, but the road is still long."

So...you telling me what some guy on the internet told you, that doesnt sound particularly credible to me.

If Arsenal can get anywhere near £35m for him they should sell imo, he may well have lost a lot of identity with the fans due to his comments regarding his future last week.

He's a useful player, but he's not irreplaceable. The worst thing about him leaving would be the fact that the team loses the only real established first team centre forward, and even if someone like Villa was brought in it would take a while for him to settle and it would be another season of building rather than actually challenging for anything.

 Arsenal would sell their entire defence for 35m.

What is it with Arsenal and being able to get crap defenders? Cygan, and now Senderos...

This Frank Lampard thing is turning into a right saga. I think they will give in and sell him (better then him leaving on a free) and why else would they sign Deco instead?
