Juce = Juve?
Assuming so since the c is right next to the v on the keyboard.

That's ridiculous though, they have plenty of forward options. Amauri, De Piero, Geovinco, Trezeguet. All of them a top quality players.

According to goal.com Tottenham and Pompey have agreed a fee for Defoe.

EDIT: Also, apparently Hull are in the market for James Beattie. Would love to see him back in the EPL, one of my favourite players.

I dunno what to make of this, getting Defoe back. Always good to have extra depth up front I suppose.

Haha what? You should be over the moon. Who have you got? Pav (who's underwhelmed but shown some potential), Darren Bent (who works hard but his quality is extremely questionable) and an on-loan Campbell (who you'll never get to keep past this season). Defoe is a proven goal scorer, has form behind him for Pompey this season and you should be jumping for joy.

Yeah he's a proven goal scorer, but has been terrible for the past month or so. I don't know if it was because he was unhappy, or just lost form.

Did very well obv. at the start of the season.

How much is he costing?

Pavlychenko, Bent, Defoe, Frazier Campbell, Giovani.
Giovani is more of an in-behind midfielder than an out and out striker (and there's talk he'll be gone soon anyway), Campbell will never be a Spurs player unless you pay way way over the odds for him (especially if Tevez leaves United, which is almost certain imo) and Defoe hasn't even signed. So really, you have 2 first team strikers.

Somewhere in the region of 15m apparently, as well as waiving the money owed on Kaboul.

Okay yeah your right re: Defoe, I guess I just don't get too excited when a former player for a team I support leaves and then wants to come back.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest if Giovani does leave, have no idea who would want him though..

Trez is a long term injury, but it would be silly to buy another striker since he is only going to come back from his injury anyway. Yeah Beattie to Hull would be a good deal for both parties IMO.

Yeah I know Trez is injured but he's back soon and wasting 20m on a guy who is going to bench it is just stupid.

I wouldn't personally, Santa Cruz has had one good season, which made him, IMO, highly overrated. On the other hand, Adriano is IMO a class act, despite seemingly being a bit of a git.

Would prefer Santa Cruz to a fat, disinterested Brazilian wastrel myself.
Massively disagree. What's Santa Cruz done? One good season (he scored just over 1 in every 2 games). IMO Adri's problems are mainly with not being first choice at Inter (damaging his ego) and he'd be unquestionably first choice here, and ala Robinho would be worshipped by fans.

There's no assurances obviously, but he can't be worse than Jo has been and honestly, I'd rather that Hughes didn't spend 20m pounds on an out of form and injury prone 29yo striker who's had the single reasonable season.

Santa Cruz is only 27, tbf. Probably hasn't peaked as a player yet. He has a game that's made for English football: tall, decent in the air, good first touch and scores goals. Lacks a bit of pace, perhaps, but is proven in the EPL. In the situation Citeh are in they need players who won't take an age to bed in. I think Bridge shows the change in thinking; from trying to land the best player in the world in the September window, they've moved on to the second best left-back at Chelsea.

Crucially Hughes bought Santa Cruz over from Bayern initially, so knows exactly what he's about. Overpriced at £20m, but any player linked to an oil-rich club in semi-serious danger of the drop is going to be.

AWTA, can't see many teams NOT upping the price a little for City because of this.

Not sure why I thought he was 29. Probably got it from Bridge.

I agree with you, but I don't agree with you that Adriano would be a bad signing. Nor that Santa Cruz would be better.

The way Hughes has us playing (3 up front with SWP and Robinho wide and a target man in the centre) I think would suit Adri much more than Santa Cruz. Cruz has work ethic and pace (though has diminished from when I saw him at Bayern years ago) but I don't think he's got the size to be a proper target man, Adri does IMO.

Adriano's a bit not enthusiastic and a party animal. Mourinho wouldn't let him be available if he didn't have some baggage. A good summer buy maybe but not now.
