Adriano's a bit not enthusiastic and a party animal. Mourinho wouldn't let him be available if he didn't have some baggage. A good summer buy maybe but not now.
Well it was talk of a swap with Jo, who like I said, has been a flop and has also been a reputed party animal as well. Not a "buy" per se, and I hardly see how he could possibly be any worse than Jo has been so far.

From what I've read and heard (not having access to Russian football, obv.), Jo plays best as a second striker (ie. in partnership with Vagner Love at CSKA) and Sparky refuses to play a 4-4-2 or variant and so the smaller stature of Jo is thoroughly outmuscled by the typically powerful centre-half pairings in the Prem. Unless we start playing two strikers Jo will always be pretty useless (unless he adapts) and I fail to see how a potential swap with the Emperor is a bad thing, however unlikely it is.

As F365 put it, Spurs have essentially paid Pompey £8m to take him on loan for a year.
Yeah. We've done alright out of the deal, TBH, especially given that for the last seven or eight games he might as well have been wearing a Tottenham shirt.

That's £15million profit made on Diarra over a 12-month period, plus £8million profit made on Defoe. I would like to think that by this point, we don't need to sell any more players - if we were any more than £23million in debt in the first place, then we were ****ed anyway.

Adriano is a recovering and occasionally relapsing alcoholic, his father who is now brown bread apparently liked a drink. Santa Cruz is gun. Hopefully Citeh punt on the former.

Be prepared to be disappointed IMO.
I'm preparing myself, ITBT. Would not be remotely surprised if we got relegated this year.

For all the good Redknapp did for us on the pitch, he pissed away money we never had in the transfer market and he ruined our youth academy. We won't be a Premiership team in three years.

Having said that, I bet Defoe wins less trophies in however long he ends up spending at Tottenham than he did in his one year at Pompey.

Looking well...Did anyone watch the documentary series about him on Monday?
Nah. Looked a bit too car-crash for my liking. As I'm old enough to remember him at his sublime best, I'm not going to put myself through watching the shell of a man he seems.

Was actually handled quite sensitively. Gazza was only in it for the first ten minutes, after that it was more about the effect his absence/abuse/alcoholism had on Cheryl and the kids. He moved back in with them after his latest spell in rehab, but did one after 12 days when Cheryl refused to let him sleep with her. After that he was only a presence on the phone as he went on tour with Iron Maiden (no, really) and began another descent.

Mainly showed what selfish ****s addicts are. His step-son still clearly adores him (Gascoigne the only father he's known) and it was quite painful to see his attempts to reach out to Gascoigne through the latter's alcoholic haze. Gazza's biological son (who will turn out to be gay or your money back; lending weight to the old absent/weak father & overbearing/overprotective mother = poove theory) can't stand him tho; he's only even known him as the rambling, violent, self-pitying alky who beats his mum up and wants nothing to do with him.

Ended up with the whole family going to Portugal to confront him with a "we love you, but you're killing yourself" ultimatum; he tells them to eff off. We didn't actually see this, but saw the after effects on the family again.

Hughes versus Brazil

Couple of very interesting articles about the troubles at Citeh in today's Guardian by Daniel Taylor Hughes's hands tied by City politics & Hughes keen to dump rebels.

Sparky wants rid of Jo & Elano at all costs, apparently. & if what it says of Ben Haim is true, well words fail me:

The Israeli centre-half is understood to have astonished Micah Richards, and his manager, by asking him to switch positions against Racing Santander as his marker was too much for him :-O

For a pro, that's shocking.

Selling Elano is a really bad idea IMO. It's going to happen whether I like it or not probably, but he and Robinho are really good friends. Seeing probably the only reason Robinho eventually put pen to paper (and the money lol) out the door six months after he did it can't be good IMO.

Regarding Ben-Haim, it doesn't surprise me. He's ****ing ****. How he ever managed to secure himself a contract at Chelsea, and then subsequently us, I'll never know.

Arsenal in talks with Zenit over Arshavin

ITSTL, would be interested to get BBs thoughts on this. Surely Wenger has to go for a strong on the ball midfielder during the transfer window.
With Cesc, Theo and Rosicky (may he RIP) all crocked the midfield has been turgid recently. Struggling to create more than one or two chances a game and with only one semi clinical striker fit(van Persie) it's not good enough.

Agree that a ball winner and a big centre back would be required but creativity is also a major issue now too. Need all three IMO but think we'll only see one or two. If anyone is signed though.
