Don't exactly score hatfuls of goals Chelsea and the Netherlands against decent opposition do they?Matteh said:Scaly has forgotten that Arjen Robben is one of the world's best players, and that him and Joe Cole are very similar in how they play.
It's not at the expense of the team though. They add a whole new element to the team's play instead of playing rigidly. Downing was a complete non-entity and when he got the ball he did nothing with it anyway.Scaly piscine said:Don't exactly score hatfuls of goals Chelsea and the Netherlands against decent opposition do they?
Same thing with Joe Cole, the player looks better because they get in the game more at expense of the team.
Oh yes, Richardson showed himself to be completely useless (and incapable of passing the ball) when he replaced him on Saturday.BoyBrumby said:Downing was worthy of a look in Cole's absence, but at the moment he lacks the nous or the speed to get beyond the final defender. No other outstanding candidate, so he remains the most likely to fill in if wee Joe gets broken again.
Expense of the team that the consistently best player over the year gets involved with play?Scaly piscine said:Same thing with Joe Cole, the player looks better because they get in the game more at expense of the team.
He's French, therefore he'll never be good enough for Scaly.Craig said:With Thierry Henry scoring against Italty, does this finally prove he can score against top teams for France or did he miss 97 chances before he scored?
Umm he scored against Brazil or was his goal more than a tap-in?Craig said:With Thierry Henry scoring against Italty, does this finally prove he can score against top teams for France or did he miss 97 chances before he scored?
His goal was from a considerably big deflection and he was pretty much overshadowed all night by Ribery and Govou. But I believe Scaly does not have Sky, so just for him he had a barnstormer of a game and ran rings around the Italian defence all night.Craig said:With Thierry Henry scoring against Italty, does this finally prove he can score against top teams for France or did he miss 97 chances before he scored?
Sorry Matteh but I'm not having that, no wayMatteh said:Scaly has forgotten that Arjen Robben is one of the world's best players, and that him and Joe Cole are very similar in how they play.
I was being sarcastic.roseboy64 said:Umm he scored against Brazil or was his goal more than a tap-in?
Saves marc doing it, do love the suggestion from someone who thinks one deflected goal would wipe out him being a flat track bully for the length of his career. It's like going ooh Heskey scored and then suggesting he's now a world beater.TT Boy said:His goal was from a considerably big deflection and he was pretty much overshadowed all night by Ribery and Govou. Takes more than a one-off fluke. He would need to consistently perform, just as he consistently hasn't performed in the past against the decent teams particularly in important games.Craig said:So what would have done then? A Clarence Seedorf style screamer 35 yards outside the box or a Maniche style free kick (circa Portugal v Holland Euro 2004 Semi Final) or a Daniele De Rossi special from the Athens Olympics?
Great idea. Retirement of shirts should happen more often IMO.Craig said:For TT Boy and Barney, Inter have now 'retired' the number 3 shirt as a sign of respect for the late but great Giacinto 'Cipe' Facchetti.

Nicolas Burdisoo who was meant to wear it has been given the number 16.
Then porcine creatures will be airborne for a while. His best years are behind him and he'll be going downhill from here on in.Craig said:And if he does then?
I guess we'd all love it if the club only had 73, 91, 32, 46, 61 left to play with...Barney Rubble said:Great idea. Retirement of shirts should happen more often IMO.
