How has he done that?

One game so far, and there were so many similarities to Sven it was as if Sven was still in charge.
By axing Sven's favourite boy Beckham, dropping Wallcot immediately in terms of actions, and in terms of words he's stated it himself (which would admittedly mean nothing if not for the actions).

Not when you look at others who didn't get it because the Prime Minister at the time was more interested in politics then appearing "cool"
Irrelevant, I've already admitted there were others who also deserved knighthoods.

And yet the on ptich performance was no different.

Also the dropping of Beckham was farcical.

I think his main problem is that he's lost Southgate from the centre of the defence.
Interesting point that. Felt he could have stayed on for another year or two as player/manager instead of hanging up his boots. It's a big ask for a team to lose someone so influential on the field.

it has...but i get the impression mclaren is far more bothered by it that most of his recent predecessors..the dropping of Beckham for instance is clearly a stunt to get the press on his side, not that it matters, they will find something to moan at him for sometime in the next year and then turn against him i am sure.

I can understand why he did it - with so many extra responsibilities as manager, he wouldn't have time to train properly.

And it clearly worked, because he was getting so much praise for doing things that Eriksson had done previously and got criticised for - it was a joke to be honest.

Davbid Trezeguets move to Man Utd fell through.

According to channel 4 Juventus rejected United' bid, but on Eurosport news it said Trez rejeced United. I'm confused...

Spurs snared Mido, there might of been a couple more. Adding depth to us but still a backman and LM short of a good side. Wish we could of snared Downing

Thats a let off for man utd. They do need a striker but Trezeguet is one of the most overated players in the world.

Yea because the vegetable frequently started with Downing and had the game won at half-time...

Only you could have such a ridiculous vendetta against a manager who's been in charge for one game and in that game England were 4-0 up at half-time.

I was thinking Fernando Torres, or potentially Klass-Jan Huntelaar, but he would be cup tied for Europe, and I don't think Alteltico are keen to sell, especially after off loading Mateja Kezman to Fenerbahche (probably now go and score about 30 plus goals, knowing his habit of bulling weaker teams in leagues of lower standards), esepcially not Torres. I'm not sure if the will buy Jose Antonio Reyes from Arsenal.

There is Carlos Tevez, but unless a fee is sorted very quickly, contract is agreed, United may not get a WP in time.

As for Arsenal, it looks like Cole or Gallas aren't going anywhere, but that could change. A good thing for SP's team, that Middlesborough have signed Jonathan Woodgate on loan from from Real Madrid, pending a successfull medical.

Ya I watched Real's first game and they looked quite solid. Upfront, they was some thing lacking and as you say, a striker or two could really strengthen them. They have got this young player who looked and talented as well (forgot his name - dark complexion, looks very strong). Right now they are playing a 4-3-2-1 but that should change when Ronaldo comes in or some other striker comes.

Ronaldo was looking to go to Milan I think but the transfer fees proved to be a problem. From Real's point of view, the sooner he goes, the better IMO. Also, I never understand why Robinho is played so less. The few minutes he played again, he looked quite good. Capello will likely change this in the future and Real will be a very strong team.
Well they already have Raul, Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy, Robinho, Cassano, that is enough.

Whatever happened to Javier Portillo?

Not really Woodgates strongest area that one....
