Vieira... not a great example and was there when the CDMs were a bit more successful anyway. Bergkamp would have retired or sold on later in his career, I'm sure he was just happy to be bringing in some money whilst not being at a lower standard - other than that he was a bit of a turd as shown by his passion for sly elbows. Chief has been explained already. I don't particularly know anything about Fabregas. Players are loyal to Chelsea because of success and money, does that mean they're not a team of mercenaries? No way.

I mean do people support companies like McDonalds and cheer when they have a profit increase? That's what supporting the CDMs is like from my perspective.
You sir are the turd. Dennis Bergkamp was a fantastic footballer, his loyalty to Arsenal and Arsenals loyalty to him was shown in that fantastic match towards the end of last season when he scored a brilliant goal. Berkgamp is one of the finest footballers ever seen in the premierleague and is in no way a turd.

Bravo, completely failed to respond to the single reason he was a turd - his passion for sly elbows.

Bergkamp may have been an extremely good footballer, but I am inclined to agree that he was a turd.

And how does scoring a goal show loyalty?

There are admittedly others who also deserve knighthoods, but so does Ferguson.
I personally believe that knighthoods should be given to people who actually acheive something in the real world. Although, I'd prefer it if they chucked knighthoods away and sent the royals packing in the same direction.

That match showed what a connection there was between him and his club. I am not an Arsenal fan but you can tell when a player has made a real connection with a club.

Bergkamp certainly was guilty of some violent and unnaceptable play from time to time but ufortunatly many players are. The great Zidane being an example of a player who despite his shortcomings is still an inspirational figure, I see Bergkamp in the same way.

It was more than just violence - I'm willing to accept that in the heat of the action, you do things you later regret - but I found him a complete **** in interviews and the like as well. To be fair I can't really explain why, I just didn't warm to him.

Zidane's were just his fuse running out, that doesn't necessary make him a bad person. A lot of Bergkamp's elbows were premeditated - he'd wait for an aerial ball and elbow someone, or wait til the ref wasn't looking, that does make him a bad person.

indeed think Bergkamp was a thug on the pitch, almost as bad as Keane
Dennis is (was) a dirty ******* but the worse kind, a sly one. At least my boys are overtly scummy and don't possess an ounce of Bergkamp's ability.

1-1. Scrappy goal though. Wasn't meant for Eto'o though he gets it and scores. Just somes up Barca today so far. Good in the mid field but poor upfront with Ronaldinho missing and Bommel gone.
