The Nerazzurri sign Hernan Crespo, subsequently the move was followed by Obafemi Martins requesting a transfer away from the San Siro.

I'm surprised he would turn up at Inter actually, I expected him to be a Rossanaro again, since he has just gained Italian citizenship, but we will see how it pans out. I'm surprised Portsmouth could be able to afford the mooted transfer fee that has been suggested for Martins and Newcastle are interested in anybody. I think he will be at either Valencia or Tottenham.

I see Sol Cambell is taking a medical at Fratton Park. And the point of leaving Arsenal is where? Only to join a lesser club you have to question his ambition. I could see the logic to leave and go and play abroad.

Ambitionless loser.

the fact that he has joined a club like portsmouth says the exact opposite about his ambition if you ask me, for instance, there wouldnt be a calibre of club higher or matching of arsenal that he could have moved to abroad and have a greater chance of winning anything than he did at highbury, or at the emirates stadium i should say, hes gone for a challenge.

And he wouldn't get that overseas and it would be just as much of a challenge as going to Portsmouth. I thought that was the whole idea behind it?

well, portsmouth with their new benefactor sound like they are going places, would be a challenge unlike any other available i suppose, be interesting to see if they sign any more players before the start of the season, arsenal are in dire need of at least one or two new faces, that much is certain.

My reading of it is that Big Sol wants first team football at his age (32 later this year) & Arsenal could probably no longer guarantee him that. I'd say he'd certainly now be behind Toure & Senderos in our pecking order.

I think it's good for him myself, shows he still has international ambitions. If he was solely concerned with the money he could've seen out his (extremely lucrative) contract with us & made the odd appearance from the bench.

one has to worry that with senderos out, and no new players arriving, arsenal will start the season with good old pascal cygan back in his centre back role, which is something i dont think anyone (any arsenal fans anyway) wishes to see.

I think Arsenal are a very good chance to sign William Gallas - would be the perfect move to him, a good portion of the team are French and a big team - and a quality left back is also crucial. Depends on the type of player they want.

It isn't English, but I thought I have to mention it, Brazilian club Fluminense have sacked their 3rd coach this year already. My question is, who is the biggest idiot? The owner or the coach stupid enough to manage a Brazilian team?

Dunga really is in for a batisim of fire...

he would be ideal, the best possible signing for arsenal imo, exactly what they need, if cole is sold and gallas comes in, that would be perfect.

were arsenal really paying him that much though?
IIRC I once read somewhere it was between 80-90k a week.

I would be interested on what Monsouier Henry is on?

I'd love to see it, but an article I read said Chelsea would rather let him rot in the stiffs for a year & leave on a free than let him join another Premiership club. Although that is complicated by the fact that as he's now in the final year of his current contract he can buy himself (or another club can buy him) out of the remainder of it.

The deal I heard mooted was Gallas + SW-P + £6 million for Cole, which seems ludicrously generous to us. But then Chelsea don't have the same financial constraints as mortal clubs, do they?!

I believe Henry is on 110k per week or higher, but if any player on the arsenal roster is worth it then i guess he is. Imo though sol campbell good as he was, wasnt worth those sorts of wages, few players on the arsenal books should be earning anywhere near that much, be interesting to see how arsenal do in their champs league qualifyer tonight, with cole left out it looks ominous for his arsenal future, not sure if reyes is included or not, although once again he has gone back on his statements that linked him with a move back to spain, is that match tonight btw? or is it 2mo?

Henry earns his wages (whatever they are), he's probably earnt them his wages in shirts sales & merchandise alone.

definitely take that, although if arsenal could have bridge rather than SWP in that deal then thats perfect, it would be chelsea losing out, SWP would be surplus at arsenal, arsenal have plenty more players of a higher level of ability or potential that can play in the same role, so that would be a waste.

According to soccernet website, Chelsea are saving themselves £10m for Crespo's two year loan deal at Inter (which Inter are paying all of his wages) should he stay there for the duration of his contract.

Gallas would be a great signing for Arsenal but from all reports including William’s agent, his heart is set on a move to Spain. Though it will be hard to secure a deal now considering both Barcelona and Real have strengthened their defence in the summer but if Madrid can dispose of Woodgate, than the Gallas move could be on.
