They have Cannavaro who hasn't been that impressive thus far (tbf I guess it is another country, league etc.), Sergio Ramos IMO is on the over-rated side, Cicinho is rubbish, Roberto Carlos isn't as good as he used to be, Marcelo is young, and Michel Salgado, and Ivan Helguera and I'm surprised that the likes of Francisco Pavon and Raul Bravo are still there.

But with the likes of Diarra, Robinho or Marcelo would take up the non-EU spots, so therefore Bapista won't be coming back, either still at Arsenal or somehwere else.

BTW what happened to you sledger?

We just sacked our manager actually. Having recently had Keith Curle and Carlton Palmer as our manager i'm sure the board are drawing up a shortlist of other black, capped by England in the 90s but didn't make the grade, former premiership players to manage us.

My money is on Des Walker.

You can throw in the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Dean Ashton, Theo Walcott as well. Joe Cole was the cheapest of the three mentioned and frankly it has been well worth it.

It is like Micah Richards, Man City could decide to sell him, speak to a club and make up a story that Chelsea want him and up the price. If Richards does go then it would be to a London club for mine.

I've heard talks about a swap deal for Richards and Wright-Phillips. Would help both teams and both players IMO. SWP gets more match time to getback into the Engalnd picture while Richards gets some European experience to help his England cause as well. With Chelsea's rightback situation he'd get a fair go unlike SWP who foolishly went down south.

Talking about Mansfield, I watched their FA Cup fixture agianst some other lower league team recently. Don't remember the result but they played well considereing the opposition. Think it was Northampton or something?

Doncaster. We were 1-0 up in the first game and ended up drawing to a 90+ minute equaliser and then went out 2-0 in the replay.

Des Walker was the absolute mutt's nuts as a defender. A different class altogether than Curle or Palmer. Des had basically no knees for the last ten years of his career & still played until 37 or 38.

It's complicated by the fact that we have a sell on clause for Richards (20% i think)

Mind you Citeh would probably do some snide deal where SWP is only valued at 1m so they don't have to pay us a proper cut.

True, 59 caps and all that. Didn't really make the grade in Italy and returned after a season with Sampdoria iirc.
Pretty sure he even played a game when he was 38/39 when Forest had a massive injury crisis.

British players are generally poo abroad tho. Rush, Law & Greaves all lasted about as long as Walker did but I doubt many would argue that they aren't all greats of the game.

I was talking wages tbh, actually your right about Joe Cole, he does look a bargain, well he did when he was playing, before the injury. Mind you I think he'll have a problem getting in the side when he's fit, Jose seems keen on Essien, Lampard, Makelele and Ballack, and you can't blame him really.

Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham are all anomalies in the system. Pretty sure all three take part in the Welsh FA Cup. Plus you need to know a little bit of welsh football history, Clicky.

What I can't work out is that Cardiff can appeal to the Welsh FA to get red cards overturned.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Tbh I think the depth of Chelsea's squad - particularly at the back - is massively overrated.

If, at any point, Boularouz threatens to break into the starting XI due to one injury, you know you have problems.

That said, Chelsea have plenty of depth on the rest of the pitch, and United don't really.

They've effectively governed by 2 FAs, which is shows the system has some obvious flaws.

The other one to note is Berwick playing in Scotland.

Nice win for us today, especially with Forest and Tranmere losing and Bristol City and Swansea only drawing. Over 10K there to see it as well. Tough 6 weeks coming up though, lets hope we don't lose any of our youngsters in the january transfer window.
