Could/should be goodnight for him, only Aussie could say he has been impressive of late.
Well he has had a few impressive games of late. But yea its unfortunate but Becks may be sold next month. Hopefully as craig mentioned earlier that Inter could grasp, the slow pace of Serie A could really be to liking.

anyone who's seen Emerson would know his half the player he use to be (at Roma), his effectively lost every ounce of pace he had and now has became a poor man's hatchet man.
Pretty harsh on Emerson even though he may have lost some pace. Both him & Diarra have given Real mid-field a more solid look this year IMO, given the period between 2002/03-2005/06 where @ home & in europe despite the presence of the ``Galacticos`` they still could play well as a unit.

Why the fuss about Brits? With English players you definitely have an argument, but Giggs & Fletcher are no more entitled to play for England than Ljungberg or Flamini are.

Scotland, Wales &, heck, even Northern Ireland have their own national teams.
And if we were talking about national teams then that would make sense - but if the FA are going to allow Cardiff into their football system (and could end up being in the Premiership next season) then I think Giggs is not a foreign player.

Hoping like crap that Manchester United's small squad are able to make it through the five games in fifteen or so days.

Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham are all anomalies in the system. Pretty sure all three take part in the Welsh FA Cup. Plus you need to know a little bit of welsh football history, Clicky.

Anytime they want to throw the welsh out of the league, i'll be very happy.

May give a few more places for average English non-league sides.

Yet honestly, its ridiculous this witch-hunt over Arsenal and foreign players, English teams had predominantly British teams in the 70s and 80s, winning european comps by rote, yet we were terrible in international football. Didn't qualify in the WC in 74, 78, nearly failed in 82. british teams but mostly Scottish, Irish, Welsh. The 86 Liverpool cup final winning team had not an Englishman in the first XI.

The fact is if you haven't an home-grown player, which Arsenal had with Ashley Cole, the only two teams in the country that can afford the TOP English players are Chelsea and Manchester United. I mean how over-priced was Ashley, Carrick and Rio. Rooney and Lampard weren't exactly cheap either.

English players are over-prced, its a fact.

Man Utd 1st Team Squad 2006/7 (so far):

GK
Edwin Van Der Sar- One of the best currently.
Tim Howard - Potential to be very good. Concentration problems.
Ben Foster- Bright Prospect

Defenders
Gary Neville - One of the best rightbacks in England.
Rio Ferdinand - Top class.
Gabriel Heinze - One of the bets leftbacks in England IMO. Don't become a fan favourite so easily.
Mikael Silvestre - Inconsistent
Nemanja Vidic - Looks a good signing so far.
Patrice Evra - Undecided
Wes Brown - Coming on but not lived up to his potential.
Phil Bardsley - Prospect. Not sure about him.
Gerard Pique - Looks like he could become very good.
John O'Shea - Decent player.

Midfielders
Paul Scholes - Aging but can still maker good contributions.
Ryan Giggs - Same as Scholes.
Darren Fletcher - Not lived up to the promise he supposedly has. Still got a little time though.
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro - Amazing talent. Needs more production.
Liam Miller - Looks like a dud.
Ji-Sung Park - Impact player. With a season under his belt better is expected though.
Kieran Richardson - Potential but inconsistent.
Michael Carrick - Good player. Made the big jump to CL. Undecided.
David Jones - Good prospect. Undecided.

Forwards
Wayne Rooney - Not much needs to be said here.
Louis Saha - Unproven through a full season at Utd.
Giusseppe Rossi - Talented. Will he able to handle the jump from Reserves to PL if he becomes a fixture?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Unknown. Coming back from a long layoff. Needs to regain the form that kept Becks out of the team.
Alan Smith - Won't score a lot of goals but can change things up and is versatile. Was coming into his own in midfield last season.

A fair review I'd say.
Chelsea:

GK
Petr Cech
Carlo Cudicini
Henrique Hilario
Magnus Hedman

Defenders
John Terry
Ashley Cole
Ricardo Carvalho
Khalid Boulahrouz
Geremi
Paulo Ferreira
Wayne Bridge

Midfielders
Claude Makelele
Michael Essien
Frank Lampard
Joe Cole
John Mikel
Michael Ballack
Arjen Robben
Lassana Diarra
Shaun Wright-Phillips

Forwards
Andriy Shevchenko
Didier Drogba
Salomon Kalou

Man Utd changes as of Jan. 1:

GK:
Foster, Howard - out
Kuzsczak- in

Defenders;
Bardsley, Pique- out

Midfielders:
Miller, Jones - out

Forwards:
Larsson- in

I count 21 players for Manchester United and 23 for Chelsea.
Code:
Man Utd Chel.
               GK
2 4
               DF
8 7
               MF
7 9
                F
6 3
That's not taking into account Smith and Solskjaer alternate between midfield and forward as does Robben. Exaggeration of squad size?I think so. Quality? Not necessarily. Diarra and Wright-Phillips aren't exactly better than any fringe midfield player at Man Utd while Joe Cole's been injured most of the season.8-)

Thing is, Man Utd's squad is full of potential but Chelsea's is full of world class players.
Let's compare Man Utd's world class to Chelsea's based on play so far this season.
Man Utd: Rooney(doubt), Ronaldo ,VDS, Ferdinand, Neville, Vidic
Chelsea: Terry, Cech, Drogba, Lampard, Essien
Only thing there is Chelsea's world class players are in midfield while Man Utd's is in defence. Saying that, Scholes and Giggs have been brilliant for major parts of the season.

For what it's worth, Cardiff has won the FA Cup (the English one).

Rose: Smith is still learning to score in the reserves and didn't score very often before he was injured anyway. And I never said "smaller than Chelsea squad", I said "small squad". Chelsea, too, have a small squad. So your argument is completely redundant.

EDIT: Rose, seriously. Are you ignorant? I'm a Manchester United fan in a big way but you're so blind to the talent in Chelsea's squad that it's insane. Forget trying to make it black and white with regards to "world class or not" and just look at the squad as a whole. Yeah, we're good, but Chelsea are just as good when they're in form.

1)I was just referring to the fact that lost of people have ignorantly said that Chelsea have a bigger squad. Used your post as a point to start from that's all. I know you didn't mean in comparison to Chelsea's.

2)I never said that Chelsea's squad was worse than Man Utd's. It is as good as if not better but not as much as most fans would say.

I think Mansfield Town have a better squad than Man Utd.

Please do the analysis thing....:)

Could/should be goodnight for him, only Aussie could say he has been impressive of late. Played in the week and was complete and utter ****e, in good company of course but with Fernando Gago and to a lesser extent Gonzalo Higuain signing for Real, Beckham’s opportunities have just been reduced greatly. Gago will take a few months to settle but I wouldn’t be surprised if Beckham was either on his bike or permanently confided to the bench. Capello has problems, his knows his side is one of the slowest around in Europe and has stated that until some pace and energy is instilled into the side they are still going to be a frivolous as they come, Beckham is part of the problem which Fabio wants to eradicate.
Wouldn't fixing up their defence be another thing as well?

They have Cannavaro who hasn't been that impressive thus far (tbf I guess it is another country, league etc.), Sergio Ramos IMO is on the over-rated side, Cicinho is rubbish, Roberto Carlos isn't as good as he used to be, Marcelo is young, and Michel Salgado, and Ivan Helguera and I'm surprised that the likes of Francisco Pavon and Raul Bravo are still there.

But with the likes of Diarra, Robinho or Marcelo would take up the non-EU spots, so therefore Bapista won't be coming back, either still at Arsenal or somehwere else.

BTW what happened to you sledger?

I could be wrong but didn't he cost just 5m pounds with William Gallas in return?

You can throw in the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Dean Ashton, Theo Walcott as well. Joe Cole was the cheapest of the three mentioned and frankly it has been well worth it.

It is like Micah Richards, Man City could decide to sell him, speak to a club and make up a story that Chelsea want him and up the price. If Richards does go then it would be to a London club for mine.
