That has to be one of the crappiest excuses I have heard from a player. I reckon it is because he doesn't want to risk being on the bench, now the new signings.

In early 2006 the club's sponsor, Total Network Solutions, was taken over by British Telecom, as a result of which the sponsorship arrangement lapsed at the end of the 2005-06 season and it became necessary to find a new name for the club. After a trawl for naming ideas, including an attempt to sell the naming rights on eBay, the name "The New Saints" was agreed upon as appropriate to the clubs' history — Llansantffraid was always known as "The Saints", while Oswestry had strong connections with Saint Oswald, while handily retaining the initials "TNS".

Now I get it.

apparently arsenal preparing bid for curtis davies, but upwards of £8.5 million? from what i have seen he really isnt that good, or is he? Certainly arsenal need a centre back, but i am a bit surprised that they havent tried to get thuram from juve on a one year contract, he could do a job whilst senderos recovers from his injury.

Covers left-back too, but £8.5 million seems very OTT. If Mr Tweedy up sticks (and I frankly can't wait, little Judas) we're very light there. Clichy supposedly not fit til September & Flamini, admirable a job as he did there, isn't a long-term option.

somehow i cant see cole leaving, not at the moment anyway, storm in a tea cup it seems, but certainly someone needs to be brought in, probably at centre back and left back, rumoured that if cole does go then a return for silvinho on a short term deal may occur, although i cant see that happening myself. New stadia opened up today though, so thats one bright spot.

I know too much shouldn't be read into friendlies....but a good result nonetheless :)

The great Juventus clear out continues and Taggart still hasn't dipped in whilst the best options are now all on their way to Spain.

They still drive forwards in Europe?

Zambrotta aside, and perhaps Emerson (like Cannavaro before he was sold), wouldn't it be viewed if they went in for Cannavaro (well before he was sold) and Thuram as they are buying guy's on the wrong side of 30, and so therefore short term options and are not going to solve any problems? And then some people won't resist a dig. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.

Is it me or is a football manager on a hiding to nothing on what ever he does.

A defender at 32 is still a good 2 or 3 year option IMO - especially when he's playing as well as Cannavaro has done in the last 6 weeks.

34 is a bit too old I'd say (and to be honest I've never been that sold on Thuram, believeing him to be overhyped), but who's to say it won't work?

Interesting to see Buffon has said he isn't going to leave.

He will if he is offered the right amount of money. If not I'm going to have make a special trip to Italy to go to a near empty Delle Alpe and laugh at him.

TBF Barca have been playing Van Bronckhorst @ left-back, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Lilian there next year.

I would considering he is now a CB by trade and has never played at left back before.

Zambrotta was signed to play at left wing back.
