TBF Barca have been playing Van Bronckhorst @ left-back, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Lilian there next year.
Probably more likely to see three centre-halfs (Puyol, Thuram, Marquez), Zambrotta at left-wing back and Belletti at right-wing back, unless Zambrotta plays right and van Bronkhorst left. That would give them Eto'o up front, with four midfielders.

Lol Kaizer Chiefs have defeated Man Utd 4-3 on penalties.

Valencia have signed del Horno for about 4.8m.

Not English football, but I had to laugh at Villarreal getting knocked out of the InterToto Cup by NK Maribor

Judging by their name they are Swedish?

Slovenian, decent winter sports place with some World Cup slalom races in January. Maribor Teatanic reached the CL some years back, dunno if that is the same club.

NK Maribor is a Slovenian football team, playing in the city of Maribor. They participated in the UEFA Champions League in the 1999-2000 season
Looks like it :)

First rounds of Euro comps are always regional, anyway - Swedish teams get Iceland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, Wales, NI, Ireland, England, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Iceland, Faeroes, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania or Luxembourg.

Spain and Slovenia are some distance from each other though.

You've just named pretty much the whole of Europe.

Close to a third. Are there two or three 'regional groups'?
Three. North, Central-East, South-Mediterranean (I think that is because they wanted to squeeze in Romania and Bulgaria) They're used in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Cup only (which the Intertoto is now), mind.

Norwood's on Fire
If he doesn't go, it might just be the kick up the **** he needs, although to be fair he did ok last season. And I'd rather have Kewell than Pennant, who is probably more trouble than he's worth.

Jermaine Pennant signs for Liverpool...

Possibly the clearest indication that Harry Kewell's days at Anfield are numbered. Not just with the arrival of Pennant but with Mark Gonzalez and a fit Boudewijn Zenden waiting in the wings, Kewell at least has some real competition now.
I thought Zenden, Barragan, and Dudek were all supposed to be used as make weights to but Joaquin from Real Betis? They buy Joaquin and the Betis get those three players in return. Did anything happen with that or was it just paper talk?

Here is what is going on at Aston Villa:
