So what if he slices a shot/cross and scuffs another cross? He's hit at least half a dozen good balls into the box, England nearly scored off two of them. I'm glad you choose not to listen to BBC given the choice, because they're just as bad with the fashion of knocking Downing whenever possible - all the ridiculous close-ups and replays and grumbling when Downing sliced that ball over the bar was typical of the BBC (in that position, off balance you'll see whoever it is slice the ball more often than not anyway). Neville misses an open goal and you get a couple quick replays and that's it. BBC also said nothing about how atrocious Gerrard was in the first half (not much better in the second really) - Hansen just comes out with saying how England need to get him in the game more...grecian said:
Anyway stupid substitution taking Downing off - Gerrard should have made way in a straight swap, no surprise they created nothing in normal play after Downing went off until Macedonia camped in their own box. Downing is perfect at the end of games like that to bomb balls into the box as he did in Middlesbrough's run in Europe.

didn' see the game but by all reports England were poor, hope to catch the highlights soon. For those who watched how did Downing, SWP, Lampard, Carrick play?

very amusing results that make the dull process of qualyfing a bit more entertaining. Im glad im missed England on my way home from Griffin Park. A decent game although another game without victory but a reasonable 1-1 result against Bristol City. For a team that has been on such good form i didnt think much of Bristol, strong physicaly but not a great deal else. Im looking forward to the great England moaning.

Don't know if Mclers will drop anyone, but with Gerrard out along with Lennon England need some pace on the right i'm not convinced about SWP but then again i didn't see him 2 night, Pennant is the best man to play on the wing ATM. Same with Downing, get Barry in, Lamps is having a tough time, Parker is in top form give him a go instead.
But geez, we have such a talented bunch & teams like Macedonia are giving us such problems we should be smoking them 3-0 and stuff, England need to just get it right or this so called ``Golden Generation`` is going to go to waste in Euro 2008 & the 2010 WC.
