But on the other hand it is also his responsibility to have the players keep on practising penalties, or in the case of fitness keep them working hasrd, like Guus Hiddink did.

Na, the main reason I don't like chief poseur is because he's a diver and poser. Most other top level footballers dive (and he's gone from hardly diving at all except on his patented knock ball past keeper, feel shotgun blast to leg routine to being a habitual cheat), but they don't do all the ridiculous lip pouting and the rest of the crap he does when he happens to actually score a penalty or scores one of the 4-5 good chances he gets. There are hardly a shortage of people I don't like, you just choose to ignore the English people I hate.

Dodgy refereeing - agreed that Campbell had a perfectly good goal disallowed in 2004, but the fact that it went as far as it did was entirely Sven's fault IMO - we were one-up and cruising, and suddenly started defending... Portugal were bound to get back eventually. You also act like no other team had any sending-offs in this World Cup... yet they seemed to deal with it.

We were somewhat lucky to get through quite a few of the earlier games while playing awfully, and we just generally looked ****.

Granted McLaren hasn't looked much better yet... but he's only just started, he needs to be given time before we make a judgement.

Pretty much agree with that assessment. Also, about Henry I know quite a few people who aren't in the least bit xenophobic but still don't think Henry's as great as he's made out to be. He's very good player yes and would probably make a world XI easily but he hasn't done it on the international stage to be considered great. In 50 years we may all, SP included, look back and consider him thus but not yet IMO.

Now Nicky Butt seems a spent force it's actually probably Phil Neville. Sad, but true. Ledley King seems to have been completely overlooked now too.

We'll probably go with Carrick tho.

Reo-Coker's only about 22 though. Surely he's rated highly in England? But yes, Ledley King is very solid. I don't think he's the answer to the defensive mid duties though as he's not so great on the ball.

UEFA Cup showed up for what it is yet again by the Palermo coach this time. Although you'd think it's an attractive competition for them, think again.

Barry, yet another midfielder who is nowhere near the reckoning - if you had your way there'd be about 25 midfielders in every squad.

You mean nowhere near the reckonin for you, since he certainy has a chance to displace Downing as the #2 left-sided player behind Cole between now Euro 2008

Parker has played 1 game I think and barely (if ever) been called up apart from that.

Yet you still keep saying he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Well when he was called up it was when he was the big boy at charlton afterwards he left for chelsea and struggled for 1st team football, its when he was sold to newcastle he started pushing for an international call up again & he could have probably gone to the world cup ahead of Carrick if he wasn't injured in march because he was playing very well.

Right now he is in top form, he deserves to be called up no question yo..

God, we were awful second half. Tis a shame, coz first half we would have rolled Chelsea over I swear to God we were that good.
