Pearce, Venables or Robson. Failing that Platt and Lineker. All about the class of Italia '90.
Think I'd give it to Sir Bobby in the short term, it allows some other candidates to make themselves available later in 2006. I can't imagine England not qualifying for the World Cup, but it is now a slight possibility.

I think he meant Captain Poof himself, Bryan.

No i meant Bobby "Unfinished business" Robson as part of a double team with Pearce just to give pearls of wisdom after the hairdryer treatment, perfect.

I'd love it Bobby took over and England won the World Cup - it would make the scum that sacked him at Newcastle look even worse and would make the Scotch miserable for years.

then who would you drop to bring in owen ? wright-philips is the logical one i suppose.
Based on tonight's woeful showing from him then yes.

But of course with his Dad in the studio they couldn't possibly criticise his complete ineptitude.

He needs some serious Vitamin D. He lacks a lower body skeleton. Ian shouldn't have kept him indoors all those years.

Do the decent thing Sven, fall on your sword.
Because his players performed poorly?

The thing people are overlooking is that 2 wins and the group is ours.

Another month of games and the players will be a lot sharper.

Also, Terry and Neville are likely to be back.

I'd love to have heard Ian Wright in the studio when Shaun got taken off, he did nothing wrong again
He did nothing right actually.

Running into defenders, not passing when he should've done and a first touch of a donkey.

Come on sledger, take the spectacles off. Sure Rio went for the offside trap along with the other 3 defenders but your friend Ashley Cole was as much at fault. It was he that "should" have been marking as Carragher tried to point out. None of them stepped up in time.
And of course if Cole hadn't made that stupid throw in back to Robinson who was under pressure, the goal wouldn't have happened...

I watched the under 21 match and Carlton Cole impressed me more than Owen has in a long time. He cannot lead a line on his own, i hope Cole has a big season at Chelsea.

If Cole gets a Premiership game all season I'd be suprised.
Good point, and that is a tragedy. I'm hoping Crespo turns useless so he gets a semblance of a run. Against Germany he was strong, quick with a good touch, which is probably why Mourinho didn't let him go out on loan. Didn't see those qualities all night.

Why should it bother you, you won 9-1 on aggregate.
No he supports the Aussie cricket team but supports England in football (and I assume other sports?)

You could call him a glory hunter since he supports United but lives in Preston.

Well now Eriksson you must stop this bullsh*t expermating and start playing your best formation (which is the diamond) and your best players all the time (if fit) because qualifying for Germany is no certainty ither (although most likely) now. And playing a similar side all the time will work much better in the long run (look at your cricket team for my point and now they are on the verge of winning the Ashes).

Eriksson has had success in Italy and Portugal as a club manager, so now he needs to get some for England and justify his huge wages (let's face it he only got so he wouldn't jump ship to Chelski).

Eriksson has to go to lose to Northern Ireland is a shock but they are below Botswana and Ethopia tell you that their is something wrong in the camp.
