I'm not too sure he'd be a worse manager than Souness.
Well I guess on the flipside trying to use it as a punishment it could turn out to be a good for Bellamy and turn out to have the potential to be a great manager.

Boy was that worth staying up until 4am for or what!

West Ham 3 Blackburn 1 and could have finished with more goals to West Ham too!

We're back and here to stay

Hmm, reasonable start for my fantasy premier league side, although I'll have 5 points to add when the substitute counts, plus 5 other players play tomorrow. I noticed marc has the same captain as I do and I still haven't a clue who some of the names on there correspond to on here... I suppose I should use the Fantasy Premier League forum for this but meh.

Have you entered a team in the Sportal Premier League Fantasy comp, SP? 'Cos we're still a couple of managers short of having a full league!

and Man U quest for premiership glory is off 2-0 at goodison park :D
And if they play like that all season then they'll not be winning anything.

The familiar weaknesses at the back are still there and "Sir" Taggart decided not to do aything about it.

If Newcastle struggle in their first 8 or 10 games I reckon Souey will be the first to get the chop.
He's not going to get too much time IMO, Newcastle won't want mediocre results until mid-season and then hang in there for the rest with a new manager. They'll want to deal with it quickly I reckon.

The Man United defence might hold up in the mean-time, but come the middle of the season (when suspensions, injuries kick in etc) I think they'll be struggling and trying to patch things up.

And here I was thinking you were gone when Blackburn scored the first goal (please don't ban me James). Although Dickov so far wins idiot of the week award.

Whenever I see Dickov playing live or highlights I always wonder what Sunday league he escaped from - absolutely useless player.

Yeah, I agree. I thought they were bloody lucky that Everton couldn't hit the net instead of the post or Van Der Sar.

I guess that was the difference though..the quality of the finishing.

Having watched the three premiership matches on TV last night and Yobo's piece of madness that allowed Rooney's goal was possibily the most comical thing I have seen in all football matches. If he was going to pass it to somebody then surely it would have been to Nigel Martyn to boot the ball 50 yards up field?

I don't know what it is or maybeh e comes in for far too much critism but I have read in a article today in an Aussie football paper (British Football Week which AFAIK is availible in England?) and one of the coloumnists is of the opinion that Phil Neville will turn out to be a bargin buy for Favid Moyes. He is a go who goes out there and does his job that is given too him and you don't see any baggage or any displays of a huge oversizes ego that you get from his mate David Beckham and his Real Madrid team mates and you don't see him going out there and making himself look like an embrassment to this great game ie Jermaine Pennant, Rio Ferdinand, Joey Barton, Wayne Rooney, Lee Bowyer, Adrian Mutu etc. and the two commentators on last nights game was also of this opinion.

To the 'boro-Liverpool game and with all due respect to Steve McClaren - he is a fantastic manager but I think he has too change his mindset and that of his team and actually play to win and not look for a draw. What is wrong with that? He seems a truckload of Steve Gibson's cash on strikers and attacking players and what use are they if they are just going to sit back and defend and then in the second half look to play more positively? Sorry but once they had Eghiou sent off they did not look scoring and to be brutelly honest they didn't look scoring at all. The first half from both teams was uneventfull, but in the second half Liverpool looked like playing more positively and were a tad unlucky imn some of his chances.

I like the look of the young 'boro centre back Bates who came off the bench to replace Boateng once Eghiou was dismissed. Middlesborough have produced a lot of decent young players in the last couple of years through their youth system and could be another. You know in his whole seven games in his pro football career (at Middlesborough and on loan at Darlington) he has never lost a match? Bet McClaren will be playing him more often ;)

As for the West Ham - Blackburn match West Ham deserved their win. Three points is always a great start.
