Bob Carlos is almost past it now, can't see that one meself. I am notoriously wrong on these ordinarily though.
Doesn't mean jack, Rooney would take far more long range strikes and far fewer tap-ins because he doesn't play nearly as advanced as chief poseur. France and CDMs' goal-scoring record against teams that aren't a soft touch speaks volumes about chief poseur. As does his consistent knack of bottling it.marc71178 said:A question on the Teamtalk quiz today.
However that (and the relative GPG ratio of all the highest PL scorers) speaks volumes...
He has lots of drives from outside the box, chief poseur will get plenty of sitters like horse but probably not as many. That's all it takes for a daft statistic like shots per goal to be in favour of one player over another. Even stuff like rounding the keeper and then shooting into the empty net as opposed to just hitting a shot straight off will alter it - it's meaningless, especially as there are not even any proper figures quoted to look at.Loony BoB said:I'm a Man Utd fan, I don't like Arsenal, and I still disagree with all of what you said. Rooney makes most of his strikes from inside the box when he actually goes for it.. and I think Henry does the same, getting the ball and running into the box and scoring. He doesn't hang around in the goalbox waiting for a cross a la van Nistelrooy, or anything like that. You so crazy.
And remind us of Rooney's fantastic record then...Scaly piscine said:Doesn't mean jack, Rooney would take far more long range strikes and far fewer tap-ins because he doesn't play nearly as advanced as chief poseur. Where exactly are Poland referred to as "quality" anyway?marc71178 said:Methinks the xenophobe does protest too much.
When he starts talking about Poland as "quality" you know he's struggling.
They're from the Opta stats comparision section on the premierleague website.Scaly piscine said:Anyway interesting stats, if they're on a website I'd be interested in the link, if not see if you can find horse's record just for amusement...
A side likely to challenge for the World Cup - ie the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain...Craig said:And what qualifies as 'quality'?
None of them would be my bet.Loony BoB said:Scaly, out of curiosity, who would you say are the all-time greats from France?
