If he's so good why do France struggle to score goals? Why is his record for France as you admitted yourself 'nowhere near top drawer'? If he's so good why did the CDMs struggle to score goals in Europe and against decent sides in the Premiership? If he's so great why did he miss two sitters against Barca? These simple facts you've never answered because you can't. The guy does not have the bottle or nerve for goals in the big games against the big teams. It's a shame he didn't stay as a winger or play somewhere else in midfield - he could have been a world class midfield player instead of being just a good club forward.
You rate Rooney don't you Scaly?

It would be like expecting Shane Warne when bowling in a pretty good spell to pick up a wicket every ball.
No it wouldn't, Shane Warne has a great record where it counts, chief poseur does not. Chief poseur is more like a Ramprakash or Graeme Hick.

As for Shearer by my count he scored 21 games in 31 competitive (ie non-Friendly) fixtures for England, puts chief poseur to shame really - but then so does any good international class forward.

What's Rooney's record?

Too early to make much out of really, regardless he creates far more chances out of nothing than chief poseur does and he does not play as advanced as chief poseur either. Also worth noting that England don't struggle to score like France do.

Still I expect someone will now compare chief poseur's international record with Maradona and say they play a similar role... that's the sort of nonsense I expect from those that buy into chief poseur's hype.

My biggest regret is that the cameras didn't focus on enough crying Leeds supporters.
What have the Premiership and a cordless iron got in common?

Neither of them have leads (leeds)

Okay, okay, I'll get in the taxi

My favourite one of that ilk:

What's the difference between Italians and toast?

Toast makes good soldiers.

Surely Rooney has a lot more hype than Henry?

No, they realise that he's worth more to them than the money because he can do things no other player can.

Scoring goals at the rate he does whilst providing so many others is something that no other player on this planet can do - simple fact, and the more you protest the stupider you look.
Pace is one of Henry's main assets though you gotta admit.

Turns out Tomas Rosicky is on the verge of joining Arsenal after passing a medical according to Dortmund's sporting director?!

If they get him I will be interested to see where they would put him, since ASAIK he isn't a winger, just an attacking midfielder.

Suggests Pires is on his way - not entirely similar players, but I'd say Rosicky is a better bet in a 4-5-1 formation.

Rosicky is a Gooner

It's official according to the beeb's website:

Jury's still out a bit for mine. I don't pretend to be the most avid follower of German domestic stuff, but by all accounts he's struggled for the best part of two seasons & Dortmund have lost an awful lot on the deal. The "undisclosed fee" is supposed to be around £6.8 million, which is a heck of a lot less than the £18 million they gave for him.

He's always looked quality for the Czechs, but they have a habit of doing that & then being distinctly average in the Prem (see also Poborsky, Baros & Smicer).

Good deal IMO - with the CL money, Arsene will surely have some to boost the squad and this looks to me to the be the first of 3 or 4 fairly good signings...

He has a lot more shots per goal over the most recent season, that's for sure.

Guess which player lead that stat this season (yet again?!)

A question on the Teamtalk quiz today.

However that (and the relative GPG ratio of all the highest PL scorers) speaks volumes...

8-)
I like him a lot, not very physical and may struggle like Hleb for the first few months but his got a great touch and can provide a killer ball. However his no Pires, he will not score 20 from midfield and his performances at Dortmund over the past few years have not been exceptional. His also been on the market for a long time, with numerous European clubs such as Barcelona and Inter Milan all turning him down for one reason or another but six million for a proven international and his still got plenty of good years in front of him is good business on the part of Arsenal if you ask me.

I heard a rumour today that Ruud is going to Chelsea with Gudjohnsen going to Man Utd.
Drogba wants out....Shevchenko will make a decision by wednesday...

And possibly Roberto Carlos in a p/x deal for Carvalho...

International Captain
Ruud's rumoured to be going everywhere. Newcastle, Chelsea, Barca, Athletico, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Lyon... one silly rumour even suggests he might stay at Man Utd.
