It was a testimonial for a guy who lost a leg last year - and his first thoughts were "How can I help the hospital that helped me?" so after he was fitted with a prosthetic leg, he set about doing a sponsored 300 mile cycle ride from Glasgow to Derby.Scaly piscine said:Says the guy just back from watching Derby County play a friendly.

How? Why? Mart Poom at Arsenal?!
That's a pretty far fetched rant.luckyeddie said:It was a testimonial for a guy who lost a leg last year - and his first thoughts were "How can I help the hospital that helped me?" so after he was fitted with a prosthetic leg, he set about doing a sponsored 300 mile cycle ride from Glasgow to Derby.
Criticise me by all means, but leave Ted McMinn out of it

Why far-fetched? Because he's done something decent for others - a concept you find totally foreign?Scaly piscine said:That's a pretty far fetched rant.
Does that mean everyone has to find every second of comic relief entertaining? Or how about telethons? Or even one of those 'just two pounds a month' ads?
Anyway they're all better than watching Derby County...
On loan there for the whole season with Justin Hoyte going to Sunderland in return on loan for the whole season. A last day transfer thing at the end of August.Matteh said:In vaguely Derby County related talk...

Very impressed with the Rangers today, they've moved down the list on my disliked fellows, I even bought a half-and-half scarf . Ruddy annoyed with the coppers though shutting the shutters and pretending to run out of beer, if they treat us like children we'll behave like them. So-much-so we all buggered off not long after half-time, not a god start for Gadsby in my view but I guess the pigs have the final word in such matters. Still, a great day for the Tin Man, amazing to see Eranio, Igor, Wright et al, and if I wasn't such a reactionary it wouldv'e been cool to see Bobby and the postman.luckyeddie said:The Ted McMinn testimonial game was one of those wonderful occasions today where you just wallow in nostalgia - a Derby side featuring players from 5 decades against the Rangers team that won the SPL 9 times in succession.
Absolutely brilliant day out - almost 34000 for a friendly, Stuart Pearce wearing a Rams shirt AND scoring - and after he'd done his "COME ON!!" celebration in front of the Rangers fans, he KISSED THE RAM. Yes, Florist fans, Psycho became DCFC - just for the day.
The match ended 3-3 but no-one cared. The highlight for me? Kevin Hector (the player I utterly worshipped as a kid) at 61 pulling on the famous shirt one more time for the last 25 minutes.
"He was signed by Arsenal in August 2005 as temporary cover for Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia, before his deal was made permanent in January 2006. He is currently Arsenal's third-choice keeper, and has not yet (as of April 28, 2006) played for them in a first-team match." --Wikipedia [link]Craig said:I'm not sure then because I remember he had a 6 month loan actually (why I was thinking a season long loan I don't know) and in December they agreed to extend it for the whole season.
But otherwise I'm not sure.
That would be . Latest rumour is McCarthy, I'd be happy with that.luckyeddie said:No idea.
Cover, I suppose. Would love to see him back at Derby for the remainder of his career - absolute class goalkeeper.
Because I was making a joke about how watching Derby County at a friendly was boring. Then you somehow make some ridiculous connection about how I'm having a go at a guy with a prosthetic limb, then call me a 'gob*****s' then edit it out after I'd read it and replied.luckyeddie said:Why far-fetched? I can see that I'm wasting my time having any sort of conversation with someone as genuinely obnoxious as yourself, so I just won't bother with you any more.
Please no. Nor Barry Fry neither. Beggars can't be choosers but.marc71178 said:Glenn Hoddle might be available soon...

I actually struggle to believe Poom is worse than the Spanish goalkeeping equivalent of a panic attack who's our current (and justly dubbed) no. 2!luckyeddie said:That's really sad.
Not only is he a quite superb goalkeeper, he also scored the best goal of the season at Pride Park a couple of years ago.
Unfortunately, it was for Sunderland - a fabulous header
Unfortunately, Arsol Wengerboy disagrees - and I cannot for the life of me work out why.BoyBrumby said:I actually struggle to believe Poom is worse than the Spanish goalkeeping equivalent of a panic attack who's our current (and justly dubbed) no. 2!
