On a great day like this, it has to be marred by Rooney's injury scare. Still I would rather bargain on his being fit than Owens chances. Owen has been out for too long to make a firm impression that we need during the finals.

I'm a tad concerned now
Breaking news: Owen had an X-ray and there is no damage to the foot. Just soreness then from his first proper run out, looking good.

If it means we have to start him on the bench and nurse him back through the group games then so be it - he could have half an hour in each of those 3 and almost be back to fitness by the knockout stages...
that would be fine if there are no complications, the Owen injury has proved there very possibly could be

Yes. I believe on the same lines. If the estimate of the injury is close to what it pans out, it is not that big a worry.

Sliding tackle from behind by Ferreira.
Good tackle actually.

About time England had some injury problems. Australia's had enough of them lately 8-)

What is it with the English team and metatarsals though? :D

Wrong extremity, that's hands. You mean metatarsals. It's a bugger though but. I reckon we're good enough to get through the group without him, which would give him eight weeks or so to recover.

Are you going to the Ted game tomorrow - if so, where in the ground's your ticket?

I think it's still a worry since he will lose a fair bit of match fitness, but on the other hand he won't be overburdened by playing the friendlies etc pre-WC. Give Svena chance to look at other scenarios.

Also it'll allow the Horse a couple of farewell games...

Amnesia eddie? You are getting on a bit..:)

As I said I'll be in the Alex or the Brunswick afore the match (meant to say if you fancy a pint you're welcome to join us there rather than your quiet one in the Navvy? It'll be me dad, a few mates and I, all decent chaps).

East Stand Upper.

'twas indeed a day of celebration, and it'll have to be Navvy for me tomorrow (thanks anyway) - need to get away sharpish to get back home afterwards - number one son needs a lift back to the station in the evening so he can go back to Brizzle.

I am in the East Stand Lower.

Fair enough then. I'll be out the back of the East Stand having a fag at half time, sporting a dark trilby-esque hat and a yellow Viv Richards t-shirt, so say hello if you spot me.

Don't know about you but I can't wait to see Igor again.

Ooh Mark Wright ooh Mark Wright, etc

Fractured fourth metatarsal, same injury as Beckham had before the last World Cup. Six weeks at least before he can be considered, which is the exact time before our first match.

3-1 over Cardiff, I can't stand that club so pleased with our end to the season.

8th place without spending a penny - Mickey Adams is a legend.

I'll look out for you then. I'm huge, with an equally huge bushy pony-tail. Will probably be wearing nothing conspicuous. I'll be walking quite gingerly - had a nasty operation last week and I'm still incredibly sore (and PP seats won't help those tender nether regions one bit)

Zigger zagger zigger zagger Kevin Hector!

Wasn't that a similar injury that kept the likes of Gerrard and Gary Neville out of the last WC? Sorry but my memory is hazy of their injuries four years on.
