Yes, if he was the outstanding candidate it would be.

However he is yet another man with no real experience of dealing with the big egos and his only real success came in a league with 1 team of opposition.

For me the outstanding choice has got away in Hiddink, but as a back up a man who has shown passion, tactical nous and winning will be a better option than any other I can see.
Petrov, Hartson & Bellamy are hardly saints of self-deprecation, are they?!

Compared to the likes of Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Figo, Deco?...
No comparison intended & Scolari didn't exactly deal with Romario, did he? Just gave him the Spanish archer.

With Figo he just got jammy when he took him off against us in the QF. If we could take pens he'd have been crucified for it.

Rivaldo, Figo and Deco have no real egoistical problems in comparison, maybe you define ego by salary.

Still ignored the media clammering.

Maybe that's a good thing, because he might ignore the media clammering for SWP!

A goal ever 2 and a half games?

Good, but nowhere near top drawer.
Chief poseur: A goal every 2.46 games for France.

This is for a team that has drawn Israel twice, Cyprus twice, the Faroe Islands once and Malta once in their last two qualifying groups and has had one of the best players of the modern era, Zidane, in midfield.

Must be a rather big hole in your foot right about now.

What's that scrabbling sound?

It's the xenophobic one trying to get out of the huge hole he's dug for himself.

I don't care about your petty sniping - today is looking like the day that Derby County finally shake the parasites off their back.

Announced an hour ago on Radio Derby that the local consortium appear to have won control, and that Peter Gadsby will be named as chairman later today.

We will finally be getting rid of the associated shysters and persons of questionable morals who have inhabited the boardroom, lined their pockets and bled the club dry over the last 3 years. Jeremy Keith once described Derby County as his 'train set' - well, your train is leaving from platform one you parasite. Be on it.

I'm so happy I could agree with Richard.

Good news.

So all set for a bright future, any money for the manager?

Maradona's international record is played 91 scored 34. I know he was so much more than just a goalscorer but so is Henry.

Great news, and "phew". Will enjoy Ted's testimonial even more now.

Need a manager first (not sure whether Terry Westley will move back to the academy or whether he wants the job full-time) - hot rumour has been Keegan recently.

The club need to service then reduce a debt of 48 million - the interest on that alone is a huge drain on resources so tight financial management is the first priority.

As far as cash for the manager - well, Derby certainly need a striker or two (at the moment, our strikers for this weekend number 1 - Paul Peschisolido - and he's injured).

We'd like to sign Lisbie on a permanent basis but he's only any good alongside someone else - would love to see Rasiak back but that's probably not going to happen. I'd like to see them play Ainsworth and Ashton (two 17 year-olds who hade terrorised the youth league) together this sunday just for the hell of it.

Learning to walk before you start to run is one thing - learning not to run whilst carrying scissors is another thing altogether. Derby have for too long been trying to run with a whole box of cut-throat razors under their arm. A 'quiet life' will do for me, but at least I will be buying a season-ticket again.

Do you ever go for a bevvy before the game?

I'm often to be found having a quiet one in the Navigation at Wilmorton and will be in there on Monday - love to buy you a pint and put a face to a name.

Sounds vaguely familiar that.

Coventry had similar debts not so long ago. We still have the debt, but we've a good manager in who has worked wonders without spending anything in transfer fees. There's a positive feel about the place, and hopefully that will be the same for Derby in the near future.

I don't get to many games due to the current fiscal situation I find myself in, usually see about four or five with a friend who works for NEP, they have a couple of work season tickets.

Apropos Monday, I'm t'other end of town so our mob will be doing the Alex or the Brunswick I'm afraid. I'll take a raincheck as they say, and have a pint with you at Queen's Park later in the year if you're still going.
