how many times in that same ten year period have man utd won the premiership title consistantly? once.
1993-2001:

7 times in 9 seasons.

If that isn't consistent, I don't know what is.

EDIT: I don't know what Wenger's period in charge has to do with Fergie' record.

both Wenger and Furgeson are two of the greatest managers in the history of English football. There can be no denying that no matter what anyone says.

No-one at his age is going to be as good as they once were.

Strange decisions has got everything to do with managing a team.

Relying on mind-games all the time just shows that you're not tactically good enough, you've got to hope to win something by getting at them mentally.
funny how bobby robson was as good as at the age ferguson is now or in fact better than he ever was before then.

Strange descisions such as? the ones that result in man utd being the form team in england at the moment, on course for second place, FA cup runners up last year....yes...

Relying on mind games ? so he does nothing at the club apart from talk to the tabloids, i wouldnt say any manager at all relies on mind games, any who actually rely on the press would be totally inept.

Erm, try League positions, before and after.
therefore paul jewel must also be a better manager than ferguson ? no of course not, that proves nothing.

since you are comparing the two, it would be wise to draw comparison from the same timescale that they both worked under... now seeing as man utd have only won the premiership and retained it twice, that is an improvement over arsenal granted, but then arsenal didnt have huge financial backing that man utd did.

Middlesbrough improved very slowly under Robson, now they're still improving very slowly under McLaren with Boro not too far away from the relegation zone earlier this season.
errrr despite the fact that Middlesbrough were going down when Robson was removed??

concurred, which makes this comparison of them rather irrelevant.

Jewell is undoubtedly a good manager, but the Championship is a far closer Division than the Premiership, so a manager transforming a team there proves less.

If Wigan continue to improve in the Premiership, Jewell has to be a contender.

but by your logic of differences in league places jewell has taken wigan up far further than ferguson has taken united, and even then, the fact that the championship is so close would prove more rather than take away from an achievment surely.

So, then, what indicates that Wenger didn't inherit a good team? Inconsistent yes, but their placings were considerably better than Ferguson's were when he took over (IIRC Fat Ron had looked like he was going to get us relegated or very close to it in 1986 until Fergie took over).
I may be wrong, but I think United actually won their first ten games of the 85/86 season.

The fact that Furgeson one Manchester United there first League Title for about 25 years (i could be wrong in that) shows how he improved them massivly.
The fact that Wenger one Arsnenal there first Premiership title and first double since the 70s shows how he improved them

The fact they have 5 doubles (including a treble) between them shows what brilliant managers they were and still are

Of course, Juv"leading Serie A by more than Chelsea lead the prem by"entus and Real "Los Galacticos" Madrid are ****.
Did you and have you seen Juve's form before and after that match. They were nothing like they were a couple months ago. Oh and btw, AC Milan are now just 7 points behind so they aren't leading by the most again. Real Madrid are a shadow of their former selves. Since they fired their last coach (can't remember his name) who won them a championship, they've gone downhill.

vicente del bosque, yes in hindsight, actually forgetting hindsight, at the time that was a poor decision, and whats happened since then is just testament to that.

Fair enough. I'm not disputing that Fergie has achieved wonders. It just irks me that people talk Wenger down based on the assumption that Arsenal have a God-given right to be at the very top of the Premiership; it's down to Wenger that such an assumption exists.

Wenger may've inherited a good back-four, but really we hadn't once looked capable of mounting a league challenge since the late Mr Graham inexplicably broke up the Rocastle/Thomas/Davis/Limpar midfield of the 91 season. True we won the 1994 CWC, but Man U had won the FA Cup in 85 back when it was a massive deal. We may've been in slightly better shape when Wenger took over, but he turned us round an awful lot quicker too.
