No he's always been like this, a flat track bully. He's a good club player, but he's no better than an Ian Wright when you look at his play objectively - it's just unfortunate that people are dazzled by all the posing, other nonsense and occasional bit of skill that usually leads nowhere. In cricket it's easy to look past all the 'style' because you've got batting averages and so forth - so you don't get the likes of Gower and Yuvraj Singh elevated to god status just because they hit a few classy shots before getting out.

Do people want a Holland/France type side or a Germany/Italy type side? The chief poseur lovers obviously prefer the former. Substance always wins out over style.
Put me down on the side of the poseurs then, because if you want clinical, teutonic efficiency, I don't really want to watch.

Hear, hear. (Or here, here, whichever's correct)

Football is a sport. One of the purposes of sport is as a form of entertainment. Teams that favour substance over style are not entertaining. If every team was that way, football would be terribly boring.

Well the title race is getting vaguely interesting, now down to 7 points and we've still got to play Chelsea.

I'd still say Chelsea are about a 90% chance to win, but if we beat them it's down to 4 points and they could well slip up in other games on their current form.

Someone like Van Nistelrooy gets a nosebleed if he leaves the six yard box - and the only time he 'passes' is when he mis-hits a shot.
Not denying that Hery is obvously a far better all-round player than Ruud, but if I wanted an out and out goalscorer I'd go for Ruud every time.

Same here - 'horses for courses', if you'll pardon the expression with respect to van Nistelrooy

good win by Man U earlier today, i'm convinced with Saha in such top form all 3 strkers should play.

Dear me I hope Villa's keeper got a well stuffed brown envelope for that third goal, he was there to save it and just let it go in basically.

that 2nd spot is Brentfords. I couldnt put up with the playoffs again.
I wouldn't put it past Southend to foul it up yet.

They did last year in League 2 from a seemingly unassailable position but got up in the end anyway via the play-offs.

Not as bad as Gibbs' rather casual effort at a run-out in the Test earlier on today. I actually couldn't believe that.

Yeah at 2-0 up against a crap side when dominating I'm sure ****nal bribed the keeper to let that goal in. It happens, a bit like horses goal against West Ham, was that a bribe or not, rubbish goal-keeping or all the same?. Yeah there to save it, as in he was in the stratosphere.

Henrys a god-giving genius, all those stats about clean sheets are a bit odd, when you consider ****al were involved in the most consecutive games scored in top league history with henry playing, lies, damn lies and....

Still Exeter won, and my prediction of us missing out on the play-offs by goal difference is still on:dry:

No offence but you were bloody awful at Prenton Park in August was that just an off day or is this league as pathetic as I think it is?

Though you did beat us at your place, we were pretty pathetic there as well

Still, White Army

well, yes and no, we've rarely played well this season, especially before christmas, though we have been playing a lot better the last couple of months and Beckett being fully fit helps markedly. Having said that the standard of football in League One is awful compared to a few years ago.

Well that Hibs 'keeper was pretty God-awful in the Scottish Cup, and I hope Gretna stuff Hearts in the final, would make a mockery of the Scottish League at the moment.
