Collingwood's better overall than both of them.sledger said:well hes a darn sight better than rob key im afraid.
Good day for Kent, but slightly dissapointed that we lost a couple of wickets late on giving Hampshire a good finish to the day, but with the able tail I think a first innings score of around 400 will be on the cards, then just need a couple of early wickets to put Hampshire under some real pressure.Pothas said:A tough day for hampshire today with kent scoring 366-8 which is a very goo total at the rose bowl hampshire batsmen are really going too have too put in a great performence with heavy reliance on watson and pothas.
This season has really higligted the obsurdity in 3 teams being relegated luckily they are changing it for next year but gloustashire and glamorgan are so far behind with all the rest so close that is going too be very harsh on whoever goes down. With most teams with a chance of winning the title but also with a very realistic possibiliy of going down. Kent do look good at the moment i am going tomorow for what is a very important day
Looking at it, that line-up looks quite weak once you get past Crawley and Watson...Pothas said:You will get them the openers are completly useless they are nearly always about 20-2 the batting starts from there
Hampshire are a very good side, they have the ablity to dig in and while they may not have world class players they work well as a team and in each game someone will always get a score.Pothas said:no if you look at hampshire this year the tale has dragged them out of so many difficult situations, Pothas is on great form with 2 centuries in his last too matches and the likes of ervine and mashrenhas get important runs even old udal gets a 30 or 40 nearly ever match
Well, it's the batting line-up that's given them those difficult situations, isn't it? Tail can be pretty good, averaging around 20-odd, but that still makes the specialists such as McLean pretty weak.Pothas said:no if you look at hampshire this year the tale has dragged them out of so many difficult situations, Pothas is on great form with 2 centuries in his last too matches and the likes of ervine and mashrenhas get important runs even old udal gets a 30 or 40 nearly ever match
You said the batting line up from watson was weak and that includes the tail does it not?Samuel_Vimes said:Well, it's the batting line-up that's given them those difficult situations, isn't it? Though I think you as a close follower probably have a better clue than me about how their batting is going.
You really couldn't rate him any lower, could you?Neil Pickup said:On the subject of "how-the-hell-did-that-happen", Matt Wood scored 297.
Very true and they have an excellent bowling atack aswell. Warne has installed such a brilliant mentality this coupled with the building of the rose bowl and big investment has made them a good side for the first time i can remember.Rich2001 said:Hampshire are a very good side, they have the ablity to dig in and while they may not have world class players they work well as a team and in each game someone will always get a score.
With Pothas, Bichel, Mascaranhas etc down the order your never quite through them as they can all score runs.
didn't he go to exeter uni?Neil Pickup said:Well, he can't bloody bat - law of averages suggests he must be able to do something.
Maybe he's got a future in cricket after all?

Oh my. How the hell DID it happen?!?!superkingdave said:didn't he go to exeter uni?
Possibly. He was born in Exeter. Most recent ex-Uni FC players are - off the top of my head - Arul Suppiah and Richard Dawsonsuperkingdave said:didn't he go to exeter uni?
